Mission: Monsters of the Past
Location: Sickbay Advanced research weapons development station
Timeline: 239603.30

[ON]

Most of the senior officers were working on console configurations doing everything they could to scan for responses and Marina's brain.

Dr Hendon was busy putting callipers on her temple and T'Plana-Hath was preparing for her psychic link with Marina and Kasey.

T'Plana prepared herself for the bonding with Lieutenant Kasey and Lieutenant Marina, even though they were Betazoid, she doubted they would be prepared for her mind. She ensured all her mental barriers were up, leaving a very fine and narrow pathway for Lieutenant Kasey to observe shadows like his sister. The irony was she was the true shadow of this meld. She opened her eyes. "I am ready, Lieutenant Kasey you will be able to observe and communicate with your sister, I advise you not to disturb her unless necessary. I will be aware of you both should something need to be done mentally tap me. One last thing, do not attempt to get around my mental barriers, it will be horrible for both of you."

Maia was away with Mr Blake Mr, Gibbs, and Captain Somers viewing tactical responses of the more or less fully automated base.

The weapons that had been developed here were centuries beyond anything the Federation had developed. Something called strange matter. that was tactile and could be formed into pretty much anything they could think of. Transporter tech way beyond anything she had ever seen powerful weapons, psychic weapons, even ascension technology, the El Aurians had been transformed into pure thought.

"What do you three make of all this," Maia asked.

Ryan studied the data on the display screen before turning to Maia, his head shaking. "I can't even begin to understand the technical aspects of these devices, much less the theoretical science behind it all. The power goes way beyond any known measure of current WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) research at Starfleet Command. I doubt even Section 31 would have condoned this type of research."

"Never underestimate Section 31, Ryan," Maia replied.

Sheena's mind never trusted Section 31. Looking at both Ryan and Maia, " I've never trusted them or underestimated 31,"she said.

Also reading over the information, "My sister would love to have seen these weapons, but would have been horrified at what they could do, the transporter tech could be useful. Could that Strange matter be some early form of programmable matter by any chance? If it is that is tech we cannot let foreign governments get their clutches on such items, I would say lock the weapons away for studying and reverse engineer the transporter tech, get hold of any plans or diagrams, you know the Romulans would not hesitate to reverse engineer the weapons" Somers said.

"What about that, will the system let us download any of the information?" Maia asked.

"That's what I've been trying to tell you all," Gibbs sighed, "This whole time. Things we've helped make in the background like Quantum Torpedoes, for example, are just a small portion of what we've been capable of. Now, I've never heard of ascension except for rumours. Given that, however, there's still that bit going around about some kind of connection to the Q. A large majority of the ability to create such things is our innate ability to feel and understand time and space. I suppose it's entirely possible that this ascension might be connected to the Nexus in some way." Mr Gibbs stated.

Have you come across any information that makes you think the El Aurians were working with the Q"? Maia asked.

"From everything I've seen so far since we've been here, I'd say that because of the nature of this place in the universe, some of these weapons if that's what they actually are, can only work here. My guess is that the El' Aurians found a way to transfer their life force into the information nexus to get the desired effect. It kinda reminds me of the metaverse of the 21st-century Earth. However, instead of making up a second virtual life, they may have actually found a way to become the ghost in the machine. Maybe their essences are stuck in some sort of quantum entanglement. If that's the case they may or may not exist at the same time. Perhaps they couldn't do it individually, perhaps they had to do it collectively. If they simply became data, we would have no trouble communicating with them. The main computer core seems to act more like a nervous system than a computer core. I'd be very interested to see if Marina Tanger can actually make some sort of contact with them," Maia said. "If they simply became some sort of computer program or information the Borg would have has no trouble assimilating them," Maia added.

Rick sighed yet again, "No one cares to listen to anything I've said or explained. Like I'm not even here. Am I really needed here then, Ma'am."

"I have heard everything you said and yes you are our best tactical officer, I value everything you have to add. even guesses at this point are better than nothing." Maia replied.

Ryan turned to Rick. "What do you recommend we do about the staff? Do you even have any idea how we can...rescue them?" He had almost used the words recover their bodies.

"I apologize for my outburst. It's just frustrating. I am 'Human' after all and can't always keep my composure all the time, particularly when it comes to all of this involving my species, the Borg, etc." Rick took a moment to recompose himself. "Alright, let's see." Gibbs quickly reached and started going through the data quickly himself, and over a few things that probably make sense to the normal eye. "I may have a solution or the start of one. No one is going to like it."

"I am Human two Rick just remember we are on the same team," Maia said. "Do what you can to try to establish a connection with the Q or any other higher beings that may have had something to do with this." Maia requested.

"I am usually pulled in when things need to be headed, so I can only give my views and opinions, and deciding what to do is not in my pay grade," Somers said.

Robert took a step back and looked at the device now on her temple.

" Ok, it's on and working. Her vitals are steady she is good to go." He reported.

Paisley was listening to the cacophony around her; it hurt her head-her ability to remember EVERYTHING was really inconvenient at times. She heard Rick talking and felt the same. She was busy at the console but couldn't provide any more information than she had already given. She cleared her throat. "I will volunteer to go on a rescue mission. Unless I am absolutely needed here, but...sir, ma'am, I'm a bit...useless at the moment!" It was a medical and engineering show now.

Marina’s mind was already entering the dreamscape that Hendon had prepared her for, she knew Kasey and T’Plana would be joining her, but right now she was alone with the cacophony of voices she’d heard ever since the ship had got here. << I can hear you... but I can’t see you, where are you? Show yourselves to me. >>

T’Plana-hath placed her hands in the traditional Vulcan Meld points on both Lieutenant Kasey and Lieutenant Marina, then slid her index and ring fingers to the right a smidge. Instantly she heard a cacophony of voices slowly coming together as one. Ironic, she thought, the El Aurians were becoming like the ‘Borg that they so despised, multiple minds acting as one. The voices were even beginning to sound like the ‘Borg. She opened the pathway for Lieutenant Kasey and melded back into her mind, a wraith ready to strike if need be.

<< "We are ridding the universe of a threat. We must rid the universe of a plague. The disease that is known as the Borg needs to be completely irradicated. All that stands in the way must also be irradicated. We must take action. >> This came from Kasey but was not his doing. The voices he had been hearing were repeating this over and over. "I can feel the desire of the hive mind and I also feel the pain and desire they have in addition to the presence of yet another layer of voices within as if they are oppressing yet another hive mind or collective consciousness," Kasey stated firmly and monotonal as if he was not in full control of his own mind.

Marina was following the voices in her dreamscape, walking an empty path shrouded by fog. The voices were calling to her, beckoning her to come closer, to join them. << I’m coming, where are you? Show me where you are. >>

<< We have been defeated. We will rise again. We are the Borg, your overpowering of us will not be taken lightly. We will return. >> <> Kasey was now merely a speaker of the disenchanted voices layered in the realm that his sister was attempting to traverse in hopes of finding answers.

Marina stood looking into the nothingness << If you are the Borg then where are the people from this place? The ones who destroyed you and your vessels? >>

It wasn’t long before she got an answer as her dreamscape form was surrounded by a sudden mist, one full of voices that threatened to overwhelm her. A form materialized in the mist in front of her, one that stepped inside her astral form...”

Marina awoke with a scream, looking around those present she looked towards Maia. When she spoke her voice was that of many combined. “You are the Captain of the ship, you must leave here!”

Kasey was still under the mental control of something or someone in the astral realm. << We will rid the universe of the Borg. We will extinguish the flame of that plague. They will now resist us as we once resisted them. We will prevail or else. >> Came from Kasey but then he seemed to awaken and he looked toward the captain.

Marina looked towards her brother. “Patience my brethren, we shall exact our revenge upon the Borg soon enough. We have all the power we need now, we must not be stopped!” She looked at Maia. “Leave Captain! Take your ship, and your crew before it’s too late!”

Maia looked at Marina she seemed possessed. There was more to this than she knew.

"Doctor, can you safely bring her out of it?" Maia asked

Hendon scanned Marina. Something was very wrong. He looked at the Captain.

“ I can but something is very wrong here. Her readings are... are... I have never seen anything like this. I am not sure it would be safe too? There’s something else inside her mind…..it would be risky.” Hendon warned.

Sheena cringed at the outburst. So strong and forcefully, that she nearly landed on the floor. Fighting, she managed to fight but yes something was very wrong.

T'Plana-hath watched and heard the voices. She observed the mist scape and saw the form emerge and step into her, a half second before the form stepped forward, T'Plana placed a small portion of her subconscious form into Marina, lining her with a small protective barrier of her powerful mind. She then suffused Kasey with another portion of her mind. She then prepared for the oncoming mental battle.

T'Plana listened to the voices and smiled, she began to see a weakness in them. They so hated the 'Borg that they made themselves shadows of the 'Borg. As the 'Borg had a hive mind so too did they. It could be used as a weapon.

T'Plana opened her eyes and looked at the captain. "Captain meet one of the mixed 'Borg and El-Aurian mind hive leaders. Iy appears in their zeal to destroy the 'Borg they themselves have become like the 'Borg.

Lt P'Rar have you checked all the science labs? there might be clues left as to what they were trying to do." Maia suggested.

Paisley shook her head. "No, I can do that. I'll return soon; shall I take a guard?" She didn't see what that would be necessary, but you never knew out here. She hurried down a corridor towards where she knew where the labs were.

Rick paused, tilting his head to the side a little bit, and biting his lip. Looking from Maia, just at a bulkhead. "This would be way easier if I was closer to 'It.'" It could have meant anything, only he knew what it was he was referring to. "I'll work with what I can, Captain." He made sure that he sat down, on the deck. He didn't need anything but space right now. Pushing everyone's words away.

This took at least thirty minutes, and the faces he made, even talking but no words coming out. Lips were moving but nothing. Sometimes, his eyes would open and look blank, and sometimes seemed to change colour. Once in a blue moon, it would seem like his body had half-phased out of their plane.

Finally seeming to snap out of whatever that was, Rick looked exhausted. Any concern given and medical readings taken would, or should show that he had a different quantum signature from before. Not only that but all of his vitals were highly elevated. "We're...in..it's..this isn't our space and time. We're in an alternate space. Not just a space, let's call it a pseudo-realm box. If you want the technical terms. It's a quantum-spacial metaphysical phasing continuum bound by psionic and life force siphon bubbles. Also..for the record. I really hate doing that. What I just did," Rick said.

Paisley had her phaser out, ready, JUST in case. It seemed really dumb because as far as she knew, they were alone out here, but really, you could never be too cautious. She glanced around; so far, so good. She found a light source and then approached a console. It appeared off, and she couldn't see any way to turn it on. Still, she tapped at the keys, in case. Nothing so far. She turned around the room; it was lined with consoles-whomever was here before had a LOT of information to store. She took mental snapshots, filing each away in order in the back of her head. She tapped her badge. ==/\==Found an empty console room-there are five terminals but none are on and I don't see any way to turn them on.==/\== She shrugged and exited, moving on to the next.

Belbre sent 2 security officers with the ones leaving the area they were in. She continued to check the security consoles and was amazed at what she saw. She saw upgrades to weapons systems that were beyond belief. As she opened one system it activated the weapons system for that weapon. It was amazing the power it had. She carefully aimed it at a passing asteroid.

"Captain Sterling, I am requesting permission to run a test on a couple of the weapons systems. To see how they work. Was thinking of some of the passing asteroids for target practice.

"I don't think so Havri, We are not really in control here," Maia said.

'Understood Captain, "as she powered the phasers down. "Captain, while the phasers were powered up. I noticed that the power readings are extremely high. It appears the phasers and photon torpedoes are 20x more powerful than the standard weapons we are now using. One shot from the photon torpedoes could completely destroy a Borg cube. with no trouble.

The phasers could penetrate the shields of a Romulan Bird of Prey in 2 shots. I am downloading the information for further study when we return to Leto for further research. Also, the shields are capable of preventing the Borg from penetrating them to capture anyone as well. and can take unlimited hits by any known weapons systems there is to Star Fleet." Replied Belbre.

"The engineering staff was estimating 35 times more powerful," Maia said.

Paisley found something in the third room-this one a more traditional lab like she was used to. The weapons system had hummed to life; good, it meant that one of the others had gotten power on and no fancy footwork was needed. She tapped her badge again. ==/\== I need help back here. Three paces to the left, down the port side hallway." She was still standing there, staring. Why was the lab refrigerator system glowing blue?

Rick shook his head, "I don't know if that worked with any, or even got a Q's attention or not. I tried at least, Captain."

Looking at Gibbs "The Q will never show up, this is too trivial for them, but something does have to be done Captain" Somers said to her, Captain.

"What about the other higher beings we have encountered, the Organians or the Metrons or even the Calamerain,"?Maia asked.

He shook his head yet again, "The Q have before in the past. I tried. I also tried the others. We're not going to get an immediate response." Gibbs sighed.

"I do not think you will get any response, Lieutenant what we have found here will be up to us to sort things out," Somers said as her Padd bleeped "Apologies I have to take this" she added and left the group.
