Karyn was in her office thankful for a quiet moment when all of a sudden her communications sounded startling her she jumped and turned to face the screen and called up the alert it was a text message from SFMC on Earth.

To: Marine Captain Karyn Lynner Somers MCO USS Leto
From: SFMC High Command Earth

Subject: Reassignment

Greetings Captain Somers

By order of Marine High Command, you are instructed to return to Starbase 51 to assist with new personnel intake, this is accounting for the little need for a full Marine detachment on the USS Leto and thus can deal with twelve Rifles and a 2nd Lieutenant as Unit Commander, this is not a reflection on your ability and it is down to the Leto's primary mission profile of Exploration, Science, and Diplomacy.

You have a week to notify your current Commanding Officer and head back to Starbase 51, good luck Captain Somers.

After reading that and transferring it to a Padd, she opened the bottom drawer of her desk and withdrew a bottle of brandy and a shot glass and poured herself a shot, and knocked it back. "well this was the shortest assignment in my illustrious career!" she said to herself and put the bottle and glass away and replicated herself a mint sweet and ate it and tapped her Commbadge.

=/\= Somers to Sterling, might I speak with you in your Ready Room please Captain? =/\= She asked.

=/\= Certainly Captain, Ill be there in 15 minutes =/\=

Maia finished her work and got up and headed to her ready room.

Karyn was looking out of the small window into space as the Captain entered, she turned, "Apologies for entering the CRR before you Captain, but I got here before you and I always wanted to look out of this window anyway, on a security note you should change your door code" she said smiling turning to face the Captain fully Padd in her hand and a sad look on her face.

"Not a problem, I was on the engineering deck near deflector control it took a few minutes to get up here. what do you have there," Maia asked.

"A Transfer order Captain, mine at it so happens, as normal Starfleet has not given reason, but I have been posted back to Starbase 51, last thing I expected, but you know how Starfleet works, also I would like to recommend a field commission for a Sergeant Saul Humphries to Brevet Second Lieutenant, pending his taking a command course, he is a fine Sergeant and I think would do well, but he needs to go through Command training before his rank is made official, but he would be my recommendation to take over, here are my transfer orders with the same message as I got on it," Karyn said handing the Padd to Sterling.

"They sure picked a bad time for me to lose my marine detachment commander. Do you know where you are going, Karyn,?" Maia asked.

Looks strangely at the Captain "I have already said Captain back to Starbase 51 wow Captain this news has shocked you more than me so much it has seemingly knocked you for six!" Somers responded.

"Yes, it has actually. this couldn't have come at a worse time. Don't worry I'll get you to where you need to go as soon as possible, your dismissed."

Karyn nodded, came to attention and turned about and left the Captain's Ready Room, the horrible stuff that had to be done had been done, all that was left now was to depart the ship "In the morning, I need a drink" Karyn said and headed to the ship's lounge for one final drink on the Leto.
