Mission: Monsters of the Past
Location: USS Leto NCC-80916 Bridge
Timeline: 239502.15

Captains log Stardate 239502.15

We have been travelling in the Mutara Nebula for 5 hours, tactical and shields are down. Sensors are almost useless. We are traveling by a precise map of the installation, making minor course corrections due to turbulence in the nebula. Dr. Tolon was right about genesis waves for some reason they don't travel into the nebula. The Nebula acts like a giant repulsor field to it. The security of this space is perfect for a secret base, even with precise coordinates we are having trouble finding it.

Sterling Maia A, Captain, Commanding Leto

[ON]

The Starship Leto cruised through the nebula at a meagre 1/2 impulse power, the reason was to avoid anything solid that might be floating out here. With no shields or navigational deflectors, all they have was the structural integrity field to protect the ship from damage. Most of the rocks simply bounced off the hull, sometimes they came to a field of debris which proved to be Borg cubes, all pulverized. all in all, it was like trying to navigate a minefield.

The alpha shift was on the bridge.

Captain Sterling is in the center seat with Commander Blake at her side.

Dr Tolon on Sterlings left.

"We should be there in 5 minutes Captain, there is a charged vacuum embankment or CVE keeping the Nebula out, just a small pocket for strictly navigational reasons." Dr Tolon said.

"Look sharp," Maia instructed the helm officer.

The Leto felt a slight bump and then cleared the CVE. It was a pocket of normal vacuum space extending just 5 miles in every direction. Sensors and shields snapped back on and there was the facility right in front of them.

"Mr. Gibbs Hail the station" Mia instructed.

"Opening a channel and full hail, Ma'am." Rick gave a tap on the console doing both.

"Helm thrusters only bring us alongside her," Maia ordered.

"Aye captain thrusters are only bringing us alongside her." the Helmsman responded.

Jon looked at the display, nothing but static, "This is going to sound silly but we should get people looking at any viewport keeping an eye out for anything."

"Are the sensors picking anything up?" Maia asked.

T'Plana sat at her station reviewing data. She was having issues with what the data was saying versus known intelligence and facts. This was causing her to have an unusual feeling, she believed that humans called it a 'niggling feeling' that something was off or not quite right. The sensation was giving her a headache.

"What is it T'Plana-Hath?" Maia asked.

T'Plana-hath shook her head in a very unVulcan-like manner, "I cannot quite explain it. Something is just not right. The data is not matching known intelligence and facts. I have an unusual feeling, I believe humans call it a 'niggling feeling' that something is off. The sensation is giving me a headache." She looked at Captain Sterling, "If I didn't know better Sir, I would say we are, as the proverbial saying goes, walking into a trap."

"What about that? Does anyone else have a "Feeling" about this situation?" Captain Sterling asked.

"Same as we expected, at least from my station's set of sensors. We could set up a number of booster sensor probes however to try to cut through the interference from the nebula." Rick chimed in also.

Isabelle was sitting in her seat keeping her senses alert for any signs of trouble. The feeling she was getting was odd to say the least. “There’s nothing I can put my finger on right now, but this place feels...” She shook her head. “I can’t explain how it feels, it’s just... off.” She had no doubt others were feeling that way too.

Marina was shadowing Riley, having dropped back from Chief Intel to Assistant Chief due to self-doubts. Jon was proving to be a good Chief and the perfect officer to learn the ropes of being Chief. She stood looking at the viewscreen, something to do with the station was making her skin crawl, but she couldn’t say precisely why.

Down in Engineering, Kasey Tanger was starting to feel odd, he was sensing uncertainty from the rest of the crew but he also felt like his skin was crawling. The sensors that monitor the intermix ratio were not functioning correctly and he was glad the ship was not at full warp. =/\= Tanger to Bridge, Please do not try to use the warp reactor while in this nebula. There is something interfering with the sensors that monitor the intermix ratios and I would not want to blow up the ship. Also, there are reports of other systems that are acting oddly, door sensors on deck 10 are not allowing people to enter or exit upon request. I have a team looking into it. =/\=

Havri kept checking her sensors and moving around slowly. She was on edge after what had just happened. "Captain, sensors show no activity at this time. After what just happened. I am a little on edge. And am not sure I want any more surprises.

"Run a diagnostic, can you tell me if the shields are up or down?"

"They are up Captain, but I don't know how much I trust out instrumentation," Havri reported.

Dr. Tolon then suggested that they power down their warp core.

"Captain Sterling, I suggest you power down your warp core. The automated systems seem to see this ship as a threat." Dr. Tolon said.

=/\=Captain to engineering power down the warp core=/\=

"Care to explain that Doctor," Captain sterling requested.

Samantha look around blankly.

"Take her to sickbay," Maia said.

Dr. Tolon watched the exchange and then looked at Captain Sterling.

"It's an automated defense system that the station was working on the last time I was here. Any warp power MARA system that enters a defined space triggers a signal that causes a wave malfunction. The idea was to cause enough malfunctions on a Borg ship to trigger a self-destruct." Dr. Tolon said. "It also affects biological minds to some extent." He added.

=/\= Warp core is offline as of now, Captain. =/\= Tanger replied as he initiated the shutdown process after his last message to the bridge. Tanger was also working on routing extra power to the structural support systems as well as sensors to see if that would help with some of the sensor issues.

An unkempt Samantha came storming onto the bridge and made a beeline to Doctor Tolon with a barely contained rage. Her usually impeccable dress was wrinkled and she appeared to be someone who hadn't slept in days. "YOU SONUVABITCH!!! WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!!!"

Ryan looked at his sister as if she had lost her mind initially, but recovered quickly. He knew Samantha well enough to give her the benefit of the doubt...hopefully.

"Care to explain that Samantha?" Sterling asked.

Samantha look around blankly.

"Take her to sickbay," Maia said.

Isabelle gave Samantha a surprised look, waiting to see what the outburst at Tolon was about.

Jon emerged from the turbo-lift, "It's quite the light show out there, what just happened?"

"That's just what we are about to find out". Maia replied to Jon.

T'Plana's console chimed as she looked at the data flowing across in Vulcan "Captain the station is in a subspace bubble; it is responsible for our instrument's malfunctions. We cannot trust any of our data from the sensors."

"Alright", Maia said. Power down the impulse engines too. I want the vessel to float freely." Maia said acting on a hunch. She looked up at Dr. Tolon who nodded yes.

-Sickbay-

Robert had to do something. He was not going to let Dr. Tolon cause any harm to the Leto’s crew. The neural inhibitors worked before the only problem was this time they didn’t know the settings. But he had an idea that he hoped would work. A built-in sensor system that would detect the weapon's energy field and then set the inhibitor to block it. Hendon decided to keep this quiet from the crew. Just in case he was very very wrong about Dr. Tolon.

----------Bridge------

Once the impulse engines were powered down and the Leto was floating freely. The station locked a tractor beam on them and pulled them into a docking clamp. The space around them cleared and the malfunctions ceased.

Suddenly the lighting returned to normal.

"Captain, We are moored to the station we are under the station's power and gravitational support systems. All malfunctions have cleared. A personnel gangway has been attached to docking exit one and six. We can board the station." Mr. O'Carroll reported.

"What about that T'Plana'Hath? Can you confirm systems integrity?" Maia said.

T'Plana looked at her console "Confirmed. However, no life signs detected and there is a high rate of tachyon particles in this subspace bubble." She added.
