Captans Log Startdate 239501.15

"It's that time of the year again, time for the Captain's Physical. I log it per Starfleet regulation 104.17. I have made an appointment with the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hendon.

Dr. Hendon had announced that it was time for several physicals, so Maia made an appointment, and showed up at the appropriate time.

Maia strode through the doors of sickbay 15 minutes before it was time for her physical.

"Hello anybody here?" Maia asked.

Robert had been showing a medic how to change diapers. On Ensign Garrs cubs. Even though the little things where covered in fur. They still had to be treated like any other new born. The only thing was the cubs loved to bite. So diaper changes had to be done quickly.

" Hello Captain." Robert said as he ran a dermo regenerator over the small bites on his hand.

"Hello Dr. Hendon, I came by to do my physical, I have an appointment. You look like you have your hands full at the moment I could come back if you like." Maia said.

Hendon shook his head.

“ No no everything’s fine. Please come in. This is nothing new. You should of seen me when I had to do a C section on the Gorn Ambassadors Wife. Those little things are born live and biting. How have you been since your last visit?” Hendon said.

"I always thought the Gorn laid eggs. I had no idea." Maia mused.

"I have been in my general estimation in good health. both mentally and physically. Nick Demarco finally asked me to marry him and I said Yes." Maia said.

“ Actually it depends on which species of Gorn. Some give birth the same way as we do. Although they usually have more than one child, to begin with. Others lay eggs. In the past, they used to use prisoners as egg sacks. But that’s been stopped. Sadly though even these days. Gorn infant mortality is still high….but on a more cheerful subject. Congratulations Captain when is the happy day?” Robert said

"I didn't know that have you had much experience with the Gorn"? Maia asked.

“ Well, Captain it pays to be up on all forms of anatomy. You never know when the information might be needed. Plus a photographic memory.” Robert replied.

"We haven't set a date yet but I was thinking of having my old mentor Fleet Captain Jasmine Sommers officiate the wedding. it will have to be sometime after this mission, however." Maia replied.

"So what do you want me to do first?" Maia asked.

“ Let’s check your breathing capacity first if you could hop on the treadmill we’ll begin Captain. I know Captain Jasmine Somers quite well as it happens. Gave me some good advice once.” Robert said.

He pressed some controls on the treadmill. Then gestured for the Captain to step on.

Maia stepped on the treadmill.

"Okay, I'm ready". Maia said.

Robert set the controls for a slow start." Ok, we will start with a light stroll and slowly move up to being chased by some blood-crazed Klingons. If at any time you feel any tightness in the chest or you're about to black out. Press the red safety button and it will stop." He then handed the Captain some monitor squares. " If you could pop those on your legs and chest, please. That should save us some time."

Maia complied and pop the squares onto her chest and legs. she then started the slow stroll. She was as ever in excellent physical condition, so she didn't even break a sweat for the first 4 increases. Her heart rate was consistent with someone in excellent physical condition.

The Captain's readings were perfect so Robert upped the ante by adding a steep incline. Then he increased the speed.

“ Ok, Captain. Let’s see how those lungs are. Tell me about your fiancé.” Robert said.

"It's Nick Demarco our entertainment director. He is a good man, strong kind, and considerate and we love each other. I think we are a good match." Maia said.

Maia was now starting to feel the tension in her muscles and was breathing a bit heavier due to her exertion.

Looking at her readings Hendon nodded.

“ Ok. That’s enough for now. Interesting. You lasted longer this time than your last physical. That’s a good improvement. Blood pressure ok. A little underweight but nothing to set off the red alert klaxon. Sugar and cholesterol are at good levels. Being a fiancé is doing you, good ma’am.” Hendon reported.

"I am eating better, with Nick around, that's for sure, he doesn't let me miss meals," Maia said.

Hendon nodded.

“ There is something else. Dr. Tolon. I tried to get access to his files and was told it was above my security clearance. Without knowing what these weapons are we can’t defend the crew. Remember what happened last time a telepath lost control?” He warned.

"Well he has a Starfleet file, but you would be better served by going through the Vulcan science academy. Their information is much more in-depth. and more to the point you only need a compelling reason, don't go through Starfleet security unless its a member of Starfleet." Maia said.

"I have a copy of his complete file. What were your misgivings?" Maia asked.

“ These weapons he mentioned worry me. There is a potential danger of driving any telepathic abilities person insane after nearly having all our brains blown out of our ears. We need to protect those susceptible. With neural inhibitors but I can’t set them until we know what level to set them at. So would most of the crew's brains exploding be a viable reason don't you think?” Hendon asked.

"They worry me too, fact of the matter is that Starfleet lost communications with the facility over two months ago. We are going in blind and we don't know what we will find, doctor. All we know is what they were apparently working on. I have to admit I don't really understand the technology much either, but apparently, Dr. Tolon does." Maia said.

As Chief Medical Officer Robert had to tell the truth. It was no good lying to the Captain. Better to make his feelings clear now. Then keep silent and his fears become real.

“ I know this is silly ma’am but I don’t trust Dr. Tolon. It’s not the in thing for someone in my position. But that’s how I feel.” Hendon confessed.

"Noted, Doctor is there anything else? To be perfectly candid I would love to be able to tell you I had complete trust in him too, but I don't. To me, this is a sketchy assignment I don't like going in blind so I too feel some trepidation. However, I am confident that we have the best crew in the fleet, if anyone can get the job done it's us." Maia said.

“ I’ll start working on some neural inhibitors, you never know. Anyway Captain you’re all checked up and free to go.” Robert said

"Thank you, Doctor, the neural inhibitors are probably a good idea considering what we might be getting ourselves into." The Captain sai.
