Dutiful New Duties

Location: USS Leto

OOC: not sure how to make this start but I am going to pitch it and let you edit how you see it happening.

Having just been called to report to the Captain's Ready Room, Lieutenant Tanger headed from the diplomatic offices to the CRR. He arrived and approached the doors.

After being granted permission, the doors opened and Tanger entered, approached the captain's desk, and stood at attention. "Lieutenant Tanger reported as requested," Kasey stated.

Maia had called for her senior staff to be present.

"At ease Mr. Tanger I called you to see how you were settling in with your new duties," Maia asked.

"I am grateful for the chance to change my position on the ship and I am going to work to make this ship the best in the fleet regardless of the size," Kasey stated after just the news of his requested duties was changed. He knew the CEO spot where he really wanted to be and he was finally fully qualified to make the request as it was easier for the Captain to reassign him than wait for a new one to come along.

"Actually, it was perfect timing as Mr. O'Carroll expressed an interest in the CDO billet. He is looking forward to working with other diplomats and ambassadors. He is good with people and fairly intuitive. To be honest I really do believe in putting people where they feel their heart is. Besides with Commander Toran-Blake pregnant, I'd really feel more comfortable if she distanced herself from the main reactor," Maia said.

Maia smiled.

"You know the Leto really isn't that small, It's a medium cruiser. and our defenses are just as good as a sovereign class. Our fire-power is standard type X phasers, not the most powerful but comparable to a galaxy class. We are after all a ship of the line," Maia stated proudly.

"Would you like something to drink? Coffee or tea perhaps,?" Maia asked.

"Thank you ma'am but I have already had four raktajinos and so I am good," Kasey replied. "I have been reading all the repair logs and maintenance logs and lost track of time and how much caffeine I have consumed. However, I am not calling the Leto small but that it feels like a small close-knit family as other ships I have served on were cold and sterile."

"That is a good observation, I have always tried to cultivate a family environment with this crew. It helps considering that 65 percent of it is either telepathic or empathic." Maia said.

"Yes, ma'am, I appreciate the environment on this ship. Also with the bulk of the crew being telepathic/empathic, I find engineering allows me to not worry about what others are thinking as I can think about something more vital to our mission. While telepathy helped in a diplomatic setting it can get in the way when you don't expect it. I am willing to help in diplomatic situations if you need it as I do have the background but I feel I will benefit all of the crew more as an engineer if you know what I mean." Kasey stated responding to the captain.

"I find that quite acceptable Mr. Tanger", Maia replied.

Belbre rang the chime and entered when prompted. "You wanted to see me, Captain?" As she stood at attention.

"Do come in Havri, Yes I wanted to inform you that Lt Tanger has transferred to Engineering as Chief Engineer, please see to it that the proper security procedures and transfers are completed. Mr. O'Carroll will be taking over as the Chief Diplomatic Officer."

Belbre pulled out her pad and entered all the necessary changes to the ship's crew roster. "Aye Captain all taken care of. And congratulations to but of you on your new duties."

Ryan arrived wearing a jogging outfit, his hair in slight disarray and sweat beaded on his face. He looked out of breath from the physical training prior to the summons.

Sheena walked up behind him with a towel, " Here Imzadi, for your sweat. *Hands it to him* "Do you know why we were summoned this time?" she asked him.

Ryan shook his head as he wiped his sweaty brow. "Nothing scheduled and nothing out of the ordinary from the staff call briefing this morning."

"May I present our newlyweds Commanders Sheena Toran-Blake and Ryan Toran-Blake. Our first and second officers. of course, you knew that. Effective immediately Lt Tanger will be taking over duties as Chief Engineer"

Ryan stepped up to Kasey and shook hands. "Congratulations Lieutenant Tanger. I know you will perform admirably in your new billet."

"Thank you, I also wish to congratulate you and Commander Sheena on your nuptials and the expecting of a child," Kasey responded to Ryan.


'Okay, I hate to break this up but we are rapidly approaching the station, so please if you will, take yours, Maia said.
