Mission: Monsters of the Past
Location: Starship Leto Various
Timeline: 239501.30

Captains Log Stardate 239501.30

Starship Leto nearing the Outer perimeter of the Mutara nebula, and sensors indicate the same subspace anomalies that Dr Tolon described in his briefings, we have also encountered the remains of the Genesis planet which is more like an asteroid field of proto-matter. It seems to still be generating a genesis wave. Albeit on a small scale. Science Officer Ross says that there is a lot of debris possibly from ships battling in this sector. We are moving in to investigate.

Sterling, Maia A Commanding Leto

----------------------------

"Helm take us out of warp" Maia ordered.

"Aye Captain, switching to impulse power, the asteroid field is dead ahead approximately 2 light minutes ahead of us. The ship debris is mixed in with the asteroid field.

"Slow to 1/4 impulse power, let's take a look."

Maia hit her intercom.

"Dr Tolon to the bridge," Maia said.

"Lt. Ross sensor sweep of the metallic debris.

"Scanning now, Captain," Ross replied.

"Scanning a lot of debris, sensors indicate both a Federation and Borg signature," Ross said.

"Borg? Red alert all hands to battle stations, this is no drill". Maia ordered.

Sitting in her seat, the sheer mention of Borg made a cold chill run down Isabelle’s spine. She’d never had to face the Borg, but they were hers, and no doubt, everyone else’s worst nightmare.

— Marine Medical —

In Marine medical Dana was busy formulating her plans for a new layout with areas for the rehabilitation of marines, she was going to be presenting her ideas to Doctor Hendon once she’d gotten them drawn up. The sound of the red alert klaxon going off made her head to the nearest viewport to look outside, debris in the distance made her skin crawl as she recognized some larger chunks as they drifted through a debris field. “Oh no, it’s Borg...”

— Bridge —

Ryan stood at the Mission Ops station along the aft bulkhead. He linked his monitor to the Science Station and began a debris analysis. This a difficult task due to sensor distortion from the residual proto matter signatures. "Captain, recommend we open a channel to the space station and find out if there are survivors with knowledge of what occurred."

I concur, Commander, that is why I have called Dr Tolon to the bridge, He will be our guide to the station as well as our security access." Maia said. Are you detecting any Borg power signatures?" Maia asked.

Ryan studied the data on his display for a moment before answering. "Inconclusive Captain. Sensors are having trouble differentiating all the debris. It is like some other power source caused this, but what exactly I don't know."

=/\=T’Plana to Bridge be advised there is a ‘Genesis’ wave moving directly toward the ship. Time to impact ten minutes. Heavy subspace distortions and disruptions follow in its wake. =/\=

"Can we outrun it?" Maia asked.

Ryan looked at the approaching energy wave on his screen. "We need to push the impulse engines to .92 per cent of light speed."

"Engage warp drive commander, take us out of range of the wave. " Maia ordered.

Helm take us five light minutes out then come to a complete stop." Maia said.

Dr Tolon came out onto the bridge.

"You wanted to see me, Captain," Dr Tolon asked.

"Yes Doctor Tolon we have arrived at the coordinates then were chased off by a genesis wave, what are the correct coordinates of the station, " Maia asked.

The Genesis waves are a by-product of the genesis planet that exploded over a hundred years ago. it dissipates rapidly once you enter the Nebula."

Good to know. Helm, take us into the nebula Full Impulse.
power, Maia ordered.

"Aye Captain", the Helman responded.

- Intelligence Suite -

Lieutenant j.g. T’Plana-hath was already at her duty station running the sensor data through the Intelligence algorithms and was startled by the pickup of proto-matter ‘genesis’ wave effects. Then she grew even more concerned when the sensor data showed debris from both Borg and Federation ship debris. Just as she was about to calibrate and focus the sensor data the Red Alert Klaxon went off. The sensors pick up an anomalous wave rushing towards the ship, a ‘Genesis’ wave. T’Plana slammed her hand on the communication =/\=T’Plana to Bridge be advised there is a ‘Genesis’ wave moving directly toward the ship. Time to impact ten minutes. Heavy subspace distortions and disruptions follow in its wake. =/\= She then quickly buckled into her seat and began running more data on what the effects of the wave hitting the ship would do.

- Engineering -

The Red Alert klaxons chimed and Tanger was eager to make sure all the power that was needed would be ready if there was any urgent need. He got his engineers to all check-in and advise him of their locations which helped him be able to coordinate the rapid rerouting of emergency power if the Red Alert became something much more than just an alert. He was happy to have the feeling of a much different purpose on the ship.

Belbre replied, "All stations are manned and all phasers are set to rotate frequencies to repel boards. Also have reconfigured all tactical weapons on the ship to rotating frequencies. And requested Engineering place shields on rotating frequencies as well." I go and break out hand phasers for all personnel on the Bridge and pass them out.

"Hand phasers are a precaution for everyone. If you remember the Borg grabbed Captain Picard off the Bridge."

Very good Commander, make sure to set a random phaser nutation into the primary targeting system. High-frequency distribution," Maia said.

"Doing it as we speak, Captain. It is set now. " Replied Belbre

"How much power is behind that genesis wave is it enough to erase us?" Maia asked.

According to what I see on my sensor. It is a medium-strength genesis wave. Shields should be up to protect us but there will be a little bit of a bumpy ride. Should let Sick Bay know so they can prepare for possible minor injuries.

Do you concur Commander Blake?

'Also, the wave is moving at .65 impulse. If we travel at .8 impulse we can outrun it. Also based on my readings it should dissipate at around 10,000 k.' replied Belbre

Sick Bay this is Belbre, If a medium-strength genesis wave makes contact with the ship it will cause some turbulence and may result in some minor injuries.

=/\= I’ll get the vinegar and brown paper ready.=/\= Hendon said

Ryan was studying the chaotic readings coming in. None of it made sense to him. Yet something was vaguely familiar. He just couldn't figure it out. "Commander Belbre may be correct. Distortions make confirmation difficult."

"Good Please inform sickbay. Can you determine what's causing the Genesis wave? Is it some sort of refraction phenomenon," Maia asked.

"Any other active ships in the area?", Maia asked.

Just the station so far is all I see. currently, Captian replied Belbre.

Ryan nodded. "Confirmed, but...."

"But what Ryan? Out with it and don't sugar coat it either!" Sheena said.

Ryan's expression was drawn in as he looked at the data display. He quickly started down to the pit where the Captain's Chair, Conn and Ops stations were. "Helm lay in course 165 mark 42. Warp factor two."

The conn glanced briefly at Ryan for the unorthodox breach in protocol before turning to Maia for confirmation.

Ryan noticed the delay and turned to Maia. "Trust me."

Isabelle looked between Ryan and Maia, she didn’t know what was happening but she had no reason to object either.

"I always have, Commander," Maia said.

- Somers Quarters -

Karyn was currently off duty in her quarters reading a book when the ship alert klaxon sounded, she got up and looked out of her small window, and what she saw took her breath away, it was the remains of the genesis planet "now that... is... neat!" she slowly exclaimed, she quickly got dressed and headed to her office, ready should her Captain need her.

-Bridge-

Sheena did not like surprise's and Ryan's unorthodox move made her scared. "Ryan, what in the name of the four deities are you doing," she yelled. She could sense the heightened emotions on the bridge and on the ship, especially Ryan's.

=/\= Bridge are you detecting what the sensors have just picked up? Something isn't right near the station. =/\= inquired T'Plana.

-Intelligence Suite-

T'Plana muttered under her breath =/\= Bridge are you detecting what the sensors have just picked up? Something isn't right near the station. =/\= she asked. Then she felt the ship begin making a course change and going to warp.

Jon signalled back "I'm getting the same readout T'Plana, start the analysis."

Belbre replied, "Anyone care to let me know what is going on right now? If you don't want to say at least send me a secure dispatch to my Tablet. As security/tactical, I need to know what I need to do to protect the ship and crew."

Ryan returned to the Mission Ops station and after a moment of manipulating the controls put up a display of the debris field that had been seen on screen a minute before. "This is what we all just saw, correct?"

Isabelle looked at the screen, then back at Ryan. “That’s what we saw Commander.”

Ryan brought up the sensor log and then split-screened a second sensor log. "Both of these logs are a match for one another. The one on the left is today, the one on the right was recorded by the USS Enterprise D upon arrival at Wolf 359 almost 30 years ago."

Suddenly you could feel the Leto drop out of warp and turn about heading back to the nebula.
