Mission: The Riixian Insurection
Location: 2nd Moon of Betazed
Timeline: 239501.30

Captains Log Stardate 239501.30

With the intelligence gathered from Commander Toran and her family, we have discovered the location of Sheena's parents and the biogenic weapon of mass destruction that the Caliphate controls.

Commander Toran reports there is a base approximately 2 miles beneath the surface of Kiowa the 2nd Moon of Betazed. She also reports that the biogenic weapon is being housed in an old missile silo 5 Kilometers southwest of Niation falls. There is also a Psionic amplifier located in the caliphate base. The Caliphate has a much larger base on the third moon but it is believed to be a staging area for their Army. The Betazed security forces will take care of that base. We are ordered to take out the weapon of mass destruction, according to the Starfleet and Federation charter. Our mission is to free hostages held captive, Try to take out the psionic amplifier and neutralize the biogenic weapon. The Nature of the moon presents a problem as it is a class K environment. All the habitat areas require the use of pressure domes, and the Caliphate stronghold is some two miles beneath the surface. The Leto cannot directly attack caliphate positions from space. So we will have to use ground troops. Fortunately, the Starfleet Marine Corps are some of the best fighters in the galaxy and the 95th rifles are the cream of the crop.

Captain Sterling had called for the Senior officers to meet in the briefing room to discuss tactics and the deployment of teams on the surface of Kiowa.

Now Marina was on her feet, she had requested to join the senior staff meeting. Making her way from a Sickbay to the briefing room she entered offering Maia a polite smile.

“Captain, thank you for allowing me to join this briefing,” Marina said.

"I'm happy to have you here, have you ever been to Niation falls"? Maia asked.

Marina nodded. “It’s where I gave birth to Aurora. The medical facilities are second to none, only the best for the future generation of the Caliphate. There are also training facilities here.”

"Is there any chance we can rescue Aurora or is that something you even want?" Maia asked.

Marina gave Sterling a nod. “Captain if she’s here then yes, please!” Her smile faded. “Though I doubt Andreas would send her where I could find her.”

Even though she was healthy enough to leave sickbay. Robert still had some concerns over Marina’s mental controls. So he followed behind her with an emergency hypo at the ready. Just in case it looked like her control would slip.

Hendon entered the briefing room.” Greetings Captain “ he said.

"Hello Doctor, glad you are here, How's your patient?" Maia asked.

Robert looked at Marina.

"She is coping for now. But I am concerned for her long-term health..." He warned

Marina looked towards Robert. “You’ll be the first to know if I can’t cope Doctor.” She offered a smile. “I’ll warn you now though the physicians at Niation are experts in the field of genetic and mental manipulation. The Betazoids you find here could be in any stage of training. Either you survive the cocktail of drugs and mental experiments they put you through, or you die. Only the strongest survive to become part of the Caliphate.” She shook off the memory of her own training, even though she was a deep-cover operative for Starfleet she’d still had to go through the full initiation and training, she’d had no other choice. “My mental state may only be the start of your worries.”

Kasey arrived and took a seat but he sat across from his sister this time. He felt the visual of him would help keep her comfortable. "Ma'am, sorry to be late, I was just reviewing updated diplomatic documents for Betazed and the region."

Just setting eyes on Kasey was enough to reassure Marina, now her ‘parents’ were gone, he was all she had beside her daughter Aurora. On that note, she had brought along a PADD that she needed to give to Maia. It contained updated personal details, a change of surname to reflect her true identity Marina Tanger.

" I'll be watching," Hendon said showing her his Medical tricorder.

Maia nodded.

Quite Alright Kasey I know you will have your hands full with all the diplomats. I have complete faith in your ability to win the argument on behalf of the Federation." Maia said.

Marina smiled at her brother. “I’ll do my damnedest to help you bring these diplomats around.”

"I will give my best for the Federation, Starfleet, the Leto and her crew and for myself as I can only give my best," Tanger replied. "I will be one hundred per cent focused on this mission and now I know I can since we will be making our bonds stronger than before." Kasey was being metaphorical as he was using the new bonds with his sister as a means to help him work on the bonds with Betazed and the Federation.

Ryan had poured over every bit of information into the Caliphate he could find. He had an extensive list of bases, safe houses and even a few blind drop locations. Betazed Security Forces and assisting Starfleet resources were preparing for a coordinated raid on all the facilities.

Rick gave a stretch once he walked in, quietly and sat down in an open chair.

Brannon entered the room and was reviewing her information. She was at a loss when an idea hit her. With the location of the weapon, she was going to have to go to the surface and set up as close as she could to do what she needed to do. She went over her findings again with the same conclusions. But she knew she could take it out and had all confidence in it happening but she did not say anything about it yet. As she drank her coffee.

"Do you have a plan Lt Brannon?" Maia asked.

Brannon replied, "With the location of the device I will need to go to the planet's surface to accomplish my part of the mission. So I can be closer to it. Once there I can get it in about three minutes. I hope it is less, I want to keep our casualties low as possible. I will have 2 security personnel with me to cover me. Once we get the Caliphate weapon. I will be extremely weak, so I will return directly to Sickbay to be checked out. I may even lose consciousness so if that happens the Security detail will beam us back. But I do know I will get this weapon and destroy it completely." Brannon said.

" Think you should take a squad of Lt Somers Rifles Lt Brannon. If you are going to take backup then heavy infantry is what is called for, don't you think?" Maia said.

Missing what the Security Chief said Karyn spoke up directing her question at the Captain "what will be needed of my Rifles Captain?" she asked.

"You will need your best commandos and demolition experts Lieutenant. You will rendezvous with Commander Toran and she will guide you to where her parents are and you will take out the biogenic weapon. It is located outside of the pressurized zone so you will need to wear your combat assault environment suits. Take what you need but plan for a hit-and-run assault. Get in hit hard and get out as fast as you can. The Betazed government has sanctioned this mission, without getting into specifics for security reasons. The Betazed contingent will assault the Caliphate on the third moon. They left the actual terrorists to us. Once the mission is complete you will egress in Commander Toran's runabout and rendezvous with the Leto at predesignated coordinates." Maia said.

Listening to the Captain "gather my detachment, meet up with Commander Toran, destroy the nasty weapon, combat EVA required, take what is needed and equip for hit and run on the weapon, get out after setting charges, meet up again with Commander Toran at runabout, got it Captain" Karyn said with a smile.

"Captain, If I may," Tanger stated. "I am certain the lens needs to be damaged before you take out the rest of the weapon. From the images in Monroe's mind, the lens will focus any secondary weapon's energy back to Betazed and still allow the Caliphate to achieve its plans. So we must damage the lens first. Sorry but the recall from that sort of mental probe is not rapid and one would hope it to be." Tanger added.

That sounds like another job for the Rifles. Maia said. "Are you reading that Karyn? Maia added.

Looking from Tanger to Sterling and back again before settling back on the Captain "I will add it to my to-do list" Karyn said with a sweet smile "my kind of mission, sneak in plant explosives and get out as the items go boom" she added.

"There are several telepaths that are stationed around the lens and they are hyper-sensitive from what I recall from the memory link. I think you could surprise them if you employ a white-noise bomb attuned to Betazoid brainwaves but that would take out any Betazoids in a ten km radius of the lens." Tanger added out of nowhere. "Not sure why I am just now recalling that information."

“ And it’s jolly well good you have. That kind of collateral damage could be career-ending if the Betazed government makes an official complaint. Also, a bomb of that type might do more damage to younger people as well.” Robert warned

Brannon replied, " From the surface, I can disable the Caliphate weapon. This will reduce the effects of their telepathic powers. And will allow Somers and her Marines to do their attack without being detected so quickly. And will prevent them from causing any headaches. Or causing anyone's heads to explode.

Plus with it disabled, Somers and her team will be able to set their charges and get out more easily. Plus allow them to have time to recover any data that may be in the area as well.

"I want you to double and triple check your plan as timing will be crucial. At some point, you will be hooking up with Commander Toran make sure you factor that in. She knows where her parents and the weapons are."

Looking at Tanger "noted, white noise grenades will be equipped and will be attuned to Betazoid frequencies" Karyn said nodding her thanks to Tanger and then looking at Brannon "thank you, Lieutenant, much appreciated" Karyn said and then fell silent.

Brannon replied, "I keep rechecking the information and it comes out the same way every time Captain. I ran 11 holosuite programs. Every time it works in about 3 minutes. I am ready when needed to aid the mission."

"Very well get your away teams together we assault in 45 minutes," Maia ordered.
