Mission: Double Dealing
Location: Asteroid belt near Triton
Timeline: 239601.31

Captains log Stardate 239601.31

The Starship Leto following up on leads is heading to a set of fixed coordinates that the clone of Colin Barth gave us. So far it is our only lead to finding what we believe to be a double of Ambassador Wainwright and the real Colin Barth whose condition we do not know. So far the Clone of Colin Barth has been very cooperative. Science officer T'Plana'hath has taken the clone to the lab and is running a series of tests on him to determine what kind of technology was used to create him.

Sterling Maia A, Commanding Leto Out.

The Leto had left orbit of Farion Prime and left the area of hostilities. They were on a course that more or less led them to a rather large asteroid field in the outer rim of that system beyond that last planet.

The Leto slowed to one-quarter impulse as they headed into the asteroid field.

Meanwhile, Maia was headed to the lab to see what progress T'Plana'Hath had made with the clone of Lt Barth.

"Any progress, T'Plana'Hath?" Maia asked.

T'Plana raised her left eyebrow at the captain. "Scans show very trace amounts of copper and chlorophyll, indicative of Orion blood. Scans also show bone structure to be similar to an Orion physique. Brain patterns are elusive, to say the least." replied the Vulcan intelligence officer. "I could apply some Vulcan interrogation techniques if necessary, however, our 'guest' has been remarkably cooperative so far. I am preparing to run an electron molecular scan for electromolecular machinery."

"Do what you have to, but don't hurt him, we need him. He is our guide to finding some answers. Please keep me informed on any updates.

Maia headed back to the bridge as the Leto was navigating through an asteroid field.

Maia stepped onto the bridge.

"Status report", Maia orderd.

"Captain we are on yellow alert/standby battle stations on a course of 015 Mk 2. We are currently at 1/4 impulse power, Sensors show that there is some sort of complex dead ahead at extreme sensor range, however, the asteroid field itself is hampering sensor contact. we will need to get closer before identifying the object," Mr. O'Connell advised.

"Any other ships or contacts in the area?

"Negative Captain, however, sensor readings are dubious at best the further into this field we go," he replied.

"Good if we can't see them, they probably can't see us at least outside of this asteroid field, steady as she goes," Maia ordered.

"Captain, sensor contact with the object ahead of us. It is an older-style Ferengi research outpost/laboratory, lightly armed and shielded. I am detecting life forms, however, we are too far out still to determine the type. All escape pods have been jettisoned and there doesn't seem to be any auxiliary support craft on board,"

"Approach course, Mr. Vian," Maia said.

"Aye Captain approach course", the helmsman replied.

"Captain sensor readings indicate the Ferengi research outpost is operating on battery backup power and its shields are starting to fail. Not good in an asteroid field,"

Acknowledged Maia replied.

"Well, Opinions?" Maia asked.

The prisoner formerly thought of as Colin Barth was sitting and thinking. "Captain Sterling," he said, "that asteroid is where the research facility is. Your Lieutenant is there in stasis. Let me tap in the coordinates to his stasis chamber."

The prisoner waited to hear from the captain.

Sheena kept quiet until now. She was listening to the conversation on the bridge. "Ok once we have the coordinates, then what? We snatch him and be boogie out of here? Or what? This whole thing is making me uncomfortable and a bit wary of this situation ", Sheena added.

"Then we go down and see how far this rabbit hole goes, I think a bit of investigating is in order, don't you," Maia said.

Belbre came on the Bridge and took up her position. "Captain, all weapons are ready and standing by. I also upgraded sensors to better be able to find other Orion Clones on the ship. And have added extra security to the critical areas of the ship."

"Good Work, Havri. I think we'll need the extra protection." Maia said.

T'Plana-hath had run the electron molecular scan. The system pinged and she looked at the results, her left eyebrow went up. There was indeed electro-molecular machinery. =^=Computer match sample against all known species that use electromolecular machinery? =^= she inquired. T'Plana waited patiently until the computer responded =^=electro molecular machinery is a match to known samples of Iconian technology=^= T'Plana thought for a second then made a command =^=Computer this is to be restricted to Φι Ξι Ύψιλον T'Plana-hath=^= The computer acknowledged her command. She hit her comm badge =/\=Captain, T'Plana here our 'guest' definitely has electro molecular machinery. I had to place a strict classification on the data though. =/\=

"Just as we expected, thank you for the verification, can you get any indication of when he was created?" Maia asked.

T'Plana considered the question, the electro-molecular machinery, smaller than a nanite, would not provide the answers however could be found in the ribosome infusion he received. She pulled up the data and began to run the inquiry. This of course would need to be verified by Doctor Griffith. "I am running am inquiry on his ribosome infusion treatment. The data of course will need Doctor Griffith's verification however."

Nurse Thral's antennae twitched as the inquiry came in. She stood up quickly and crossed Sickbay towards the medical lab, where the new CMO was working at a station. "Doctor?" she said.

"Mmm," Gwen said, eyes glued to her screen.

"Doctor Griffith," Thral said, a bit more forcefully. The new doctor had only been on board a few weeks, but most of the staff had learned the "try it twice" rule of getting her attention.

Gwen looked up and shook off her mental cobwebs from what she'd been engrossed in. "Sorry, Valla. What do you need?"

"You asked to be updated on if anything was requested of the medical database regarding the clones. Lieutenant T'Plana-Hath has requested information on his ribosome infusion."

Gwen raised an eyebrow and brought up the files. She watched the same information as what was on the bridge. "They're trying to determine the age of the clones," she said to herself. "Thank you, Valla."

As the dismissed nurse left her, Gwen brought up the scans they'd taken of the cloned Lieutenant Barth. The infusion would give them some information, but unless the cloning was done at birth, there were other tells as well. She brought up the genetic scans and began reexamining it. "Computer, review genetic scans, compare to previous scans of Lieutenant Barth and list all anomalies, including telomeres, mutations and signs of splicing."

"Requested scan will take thirty minutes," the computer said.

Gwen sat back and waited. Once the computer had her information, she'd be able to bring it to the bridge.

"Helm set approach course to that that Ferengi facility," Maia ordered.

"Aye Captain ETA Present speed, 40 minutes,"

"Mr Gibbs, I want you to set up an away team we will be going over there," Maia ordered.

"Should be pretty easy in and contain, given the size of the facility, we should only need...five teams. Beamed in simutaniously, in certain area's" Gibbs nodded.
