Transferring the new doctor

I must regretfully report that we couldn't save the USS Rutledge. She exploded from a warp core breach after being attacked by anthropomorphic playing cards like something out of Alice through the looking glass. However, the marauder's ships were definitely Orion in origin. I have contacted a nearby freighter to offload the survivors, which we will rendezvous with in 2 hours. I have been in contact with Starfleet command about the personnel transfer of Dr. Marianna Grant. Headquarters has granted the request. I have asked my senior officers to join me in informing her and welcoming her to the Leto.

Captain Sterling had requested and received permission from Star Fleet Command to transfer Dr. Marianna Grant to the Leto. So as was her custom she gathered her senior officers together and called Dr. Grant to the ready room.

She noted some interesting things in her personnel file.

A nurse had come up to Robert and said she was sorry he was leaving the Leto. He wished the nurse had read the thing properly. The Leto was getting a new Assistant Chief Medical Officer. Not losing him. Which in Robert's view was a good thing. After the last mission, he had been dead on his feet. It would be good to have someone to help him. Plus it was coming up to physical time. With two of them armed with nets, they could catch fleeing more officers and drag them to sickbay more easily.

Sheena walked into the captain's ready room sipping a cup of Spring tea. "I hear we have a new doctor?" she said, as she sat with Maia. "That does not mean Hendon is leaving us?" she added praying that was not the case. She was going to ask him to be the godfather to the baby.

"No Dr. Hendon is not leaving us however he will be increasing his staff," Maia replied.

It was a rather red-faced and coughing Hendon who entered next. He had caught the end of Toran's question and missed Sterling’s reply. Due to the coffee, he was sipping entering a part of the back of his throat. That liquid did not belong.

“…..Hello……Hello……sorry…….coffee…..wrong…..hole……whose…leaving…Leto?” He asked.

"No one, you're getting a new staff member, Dr. Grant has transferred to the Leto effective immediately," Maia replied.

LCMD Belbre came to the Ready Room and got a cup of black coffee and a couple of danish. She had been busy all morning going over reports from the Rutledge incident. She wanted to know how the invaders knew how to gain control of a Star Fleet ship and then bring the warp core into a state of exploding due to breach status. Knowing this will help protect the Leto.

When she arrived, she found out we were getting a new ACMO and that alone would require her to enable the protocols necessary as Chief Security Officer. She went over and had a seat to await all involved to come into the meeting. While eating her danish.

Sheena chuckled with Hendon nearly dropping his beverage. "I am so sorry that the statement made to the captain made you choke as you entered. I was also a bit shook when I heard it at first. I am glad you are getting another doctor to assist you. I also have a question for you after this meeting," she said, turning to her friend. "Captain after this meeting I have something to ask of you if you mind..." she added, taking a sip of her tea.

"You never know where you will find good help, Robert. You are a lieutenant commander and should be in charge of a larger staff," Maia said.

“ To be honest our recent shenanigans with the Orions. Plus their rather nasty hand weapons. We have been a bit stretched in medical. It will be good to have extra staff…..what with crew physicals coming up.” Robert said making a small hint at the end.

"Has anyone seen Commander Blake," Maia asked.

Belbre replied, "I have not seen him, Captain."

Robert shook his head.

Ryan entered the ready room and nodded. "Sorry for my tardiness Captain. I was preparing an after-action report for Starfleet Command in the Strategic Operations Center."

"Yes of course the destruction of the USS Rutledge." Maia said.

"I called you all here to announce that we have a new Medical officer onboard and we have received permission to have her transferred to this ship."

LCMD Belbre stood and awaited the Doctor's entrance. She always stood as a precaution but also it made sure there was expected respect for all new personnel.

Sheena was waiting for the new doctor to arrive as Ryan made his arrival. "Ryan, you forgot to set your alarm? That will never do!" she said laughing, making light of his tardy entrance.

=/\= Yes Ma'am on my way.=/\= Throwing the last of her personal stuff in the duffel, Preparing to ship out with the others of the Rutledge. Thankful it wasn't a large ship and she made her to the ready room. Hitting the chime.

"Enter" Maia replied.

Enters and is surprised to see all of the Senior Officers there. nervously she asked, "You called for me Ma'am?"

"Ah, Doctor Grant please come in, I wanted to inform you that your transfer request to join the Leto has been approved by Starfleet Command. Welcome aboard," Maia said.

Why don't you tell us about yourself, Dr. Grant," Maia requested.

Robert looked up and gave Grant a nod. It would be good to have some help with their medical needs on the Leto.

Marianna shifted nervously from foot to foot. "well um... I am the middle second youngest out of four from I come from a long line of Medical professionals, well sorta. My mother retired from Starfleet not too long ago. I started my career as a nurse and worked my way up and was given a shove towards becoming a doctor. The Rutledge was my first posting as a Medical doctor." she said nervously, trying to not word vomit on everyone.

"Are you okay doctor you look a little queasy?" Maia stated.

Thinking Maia was speaking to him. Robert shook his head. Then hid his blush as he realized it was Marianna Maia was talking to.

"I'm ok Ma'am. Just nervous that's all. I usually only get to meet or see the Captain of the ship when I come on board and when it's time for physicals. Most of the time, the Chief Medical officers chase, me out of the room for privacy for the Captain."

Robert smiled. He liked Marianna.

Belbre replied, " I have activated all security protocols for you Dr. And if you need any special access to the Sick Bay computer Dr Hendon will give you those accesses"

Nodding Hendon started to tap something on his padd. The device gave a bleep and he nodded.

“ It’s done Commander. Dr Grant has exactly the same access as myself now.” He reported

Belbre replied, "Thank you Dr. I always let department heads determine what access each crew member has in their departments. This way they cannot have the access to jetson the warp core in engineering without the approval of the Captain, XO, and 2XO approval." As she smiled at Captain Sterling.

Sheena smiled at Dr. Grant, "Relax doctor, we are all family here. Your nerves have you so bad it is like the Cheshire cat has seen himself disappear for the first time!" she said chuckling.

"Now that the pleasantries are out of the way, Welcome aboard Dr. Grant."
