Mission: The Riixian Insurection
Location: USS Leto
Timeline: 239507.15

Captains Log Stardate 239507.15. USS Leto in final preparation to leave Thorion-4 our newest Federation member. We have spent the last year building an embassy, fighting off pirates, establishing trade routes and securing mining rights for legitimate miners and industry. Our mission was an overwhelming success. Jo'lan was elected the first president of Thorion-4 by an overwhelming majority. Ambassador Langley is both happy and pleased that he is the first Federation Ambassador to Thorion-4 and is quite taken by its people. Leto was forever named a friend of Thoria. President Jo'lan awarded us the Thorion-4 Peace Commendation and Campaign Medal to commemorate our efforts at establishing peace. Ironic that Leto never fired a shot. We have solidified ourselves in the annals of Starfleet history as a ship of peace. We will be escorted out of Thorion space by over a hundred Ballistas and Javelins. As well as fireworks salute. Lt. Steve O'Carroll is alive and well is due for surgery to have his replacement legs installed. The Ship and crew are ready for our next mission. Once we are clear of the spatial sandbar, we are setting a course directly to Betazed. Even at maximum warp, it will take two weeks to get there. Sterling, Maia A, Captain, Commanding Leto Out.

Captain Sterling was in the center seat. Her bridge was a hive of activity as final preparations for departure were taking place.

"Status report all stations" The captain ordered.

As Steve’s new legs were not quite ready. Robert decided to go to the bridge. It was much different to his last ship. But then again he was not expected to man that console. As Chief Medical Officer here on Leto, he was. But he could deli-gate if needed. With things quiet in sickbay for now. Robert decided some bridge time was just the ticket.

“ All is well at the medical station Captain,” Robert reported.

"Thank you, Doctor," Maia replied.

No sooner had he spoken. A call came in for Hendon to report to sickbay. So he left the bridge quickly.

Rick glanced up from his console. "All clear here, ma'am."

"Thank You Tactical." replied.

Lt Brannon smiled, the new Tactical officer was responding well. and would be a huge part of her Security/Tactical team.

"All stations secure Captain," Brannon said.

"Thank you, Security" The Captain replied.

Maria sat at the Operations terminal and started to check that everything was green across the board, she replied " Everything is in the Green Captain," as she swivelled around in her chair, she finished " we are ready to go anytime, Captain." as once more turning back to face the viewscreen.

"Thank you, Ops." The Captain replied.

"All labs report ready to go, Captain. All sensors are green across the board, so Science is 100% ready to go," Lieutenant Cale Llewellyn said from his station.

Sheena was checking the reports of the different departments, "Everything looks good to go Captain. Shall we get underway? Betazed awaits us," Sheena said slightly hesitantly. She still had no answers to her inquiries about her house or parents.

"Haven't heard from Engineering yet. They may be having problems. Better check on them Number one." Maia ordered.

Ryan was on the bridge as an observer for their departure. Sheena was the watch OOD, and all the primary bridge stations were manned for normal departure operations. He was mainly there because he liked to be on the bridge for arrival and departure.

- Engineering -

"Oh for the love of..." Jamie said as she saw the exploded console in engineering Since returning to duty she'd been a tornado of activity to repair the place. "I thought we fixed that!"

"Sorry ma'am," said one of the enlisted, an E-5 who looked about as old as Jamie, but intimidated by her, as a lot of men were.

"Don't ma'am me," Jamie said sharply. "Just fix it!"

"Alright, warp core...active," she said as she looked. She was kind of in uniform, her pants and boots and tank top untucked, her tunic and jacket unzipped from having to work around so much and needing to cool off. Her long red curly hair was done in a thick braid to keep it out of the way. "Subspace field, balanced, both engines...nominal."

She tapped her badge, =/\= Bridge, Engineering. We're ready for warp at your command.=/\=

- Bridge -

=/\= Acknowledged ChEng =/\= Maia said grinning.

"Speak of the devil Number one. looks like we are ready to go." Maia said.

Helm clear all morning and gravitational support systems.

Comm gets me to dock control.

=/\=Dock control this is the Federation Starship Leto, request permission to depart=/\=

=/\=Federation Starship Leto, permission granted. Please set departure course 005 Mk 2. Do not exceed 1/2 impulse power until you reach the border. Military escort standing by on your orders. May your journey be pleasant and free from incidents. =/\=

=/\=Leto acknowledges =/\=

"Helm aft thrusters, set acceleration for 250 KPH, take us out." The Captain ordered.

"Aye Captain aft thrusters," Helm replied.

A few moments later.

"Captain we are clear and ready to navigate," Helm stated.

"Set departure course 005 Mk 2 and increase to one half impulse power." The Captain ordered.

"Departure angle on the viewer." The captain ordered.

Maia watched as Thorion 4 and the space station rapidly shrank in view. She also watched as the military escort of over 100 ships saw them off.

"Viewer ahead" Maia ordered.

It would be about two hours to the border when they could activate their warp drive. The Subspace sandbar was a great tactical advantage for the Thorion people.

"That's a lot of ships," Rick mentioned.

"But it also shows how respected and how much good we have done here in Thorion 4, Lt. Gibbs. We did a lot of good and have raised the hope one day we can all work together in space and not be fighting each other. Peace is always better than war Lieutenant." Brannon said.

"Of course it is, Lieutenant Brannon." Giving a glance down and a few taps on the console before looking back up. Rick smiled lightly, "All in due time, Lieutenant." Gibbs replied.

"Number one you have the bridge I'm going to sickbay to check up on Steve, he should have been here, I'll be back in half an hour." The captain said.

With that, she left the bridge and went to sickbay.

Rick glanced to whoever would answer the question, "What is that about?"

Brannon looked at Gibbs, "She is checking on Mr O'Carroll. He is a member of our crew. While he was a captive he had a severe injury to both legs and had to be amputated. He is going to get fitted with new legs soon. Captain Sterling cares about her crew and all her subordinates." Brannon said.

"I never figured otherwise. I'm sorry that happened." Gibbs said.

Still getting acclimated to his new environs and crewmates, Cale kept quiet. He probably shouldn't have said anything to the captain at all. But then wondered if now might not be the proper time he extricated himself from this situation.

"Commander, may I be excused from the bridge, please?" he asked

Ryan stood next to Sheena now in the center seat for a few minutes while watching the viewscreen. He finally turned to her and nodded. "I am off to a therapy session with my counsellor. See you after watch?"

"As soon as you are relieved by your replacement Mr Cale," Sheena said. Looking at Ryan, "Yes, see you after watch," Sheena smiled at him, maintaining her professionalism on the bridge.

- Sick Bay -

Robert returned to sickbay. Thankfully it had been a false alarm. Robert checked on Steve. His new legs were doing quite well. There was no rejection of biomaterial. Robert was sure they would have Steve up and walking soon.

Captain Sterling padded her way to sickbay, upon entering she saw Dr Hendon first.

"Good Morning Doctor Hendon, Sorry if I put you in a rush, I just wanted to let Mr O'Carrol know we were underway. How is Mr O'Carroll doing this morning?

“ Excellent. His new legs have been fitted and we hope to have him up and walking later today. How are you doing? Any headaches?” Robert asked.

"No, no headaches still drinking green tea, no coffee," Maia replied.

"Can I see him doc?" Maia asked.

Peeters was making her round of sickbay. The other shift had left a mess and she was checking the supplies. Looking at the entrance she saw the captain talking to Dr. Hendon. She was curious and couldn't help but see if she could help them out.

Hendon looked over to Steve.

“ Yes. He should just be coming round. So a face he knows will be just the ticket. Just don’t let him try and stand just yet. His body needs to get used to balancing again. We don’t want a fall.” Robert advised.

Les stood in the background, replicating herself some coffee and an apple. She reviewed the injured crewmen's file and debated a counselling session. She saw the Skipper and the CMO talking. She quickly decided survival was a better part of valour and slipped back into her office.

"Good Morning Steve you are looking well," The Captain said.

"I just wanted you to know we are underway, heading to Betazed. I'm going to put the Leto in harm's way again and I need you at your post. I will give you plenty of time to recover but for now, your post is to learn how to walk and run again" Maia said.

"Yes Captain I understand," Steve said. It was nice to be needed or to feel anything again.

"How are you doing Kimberly?" Maia asked pleasantly.

- Diplomatic Office -

Lieutenant Tanger was in his office after having escorted the Thorion diplomats off the ship after the awards ceremony. It was time for some rest and relaxation. He had just gotten word that there would be a couple more diplomats boarding the ship enroute about a week out. He would have to get more information from the second officer.

- Sickbay -

"Okay doc keep me informed of any changes in his status, I need to get back to the bridge and mind the store," Maia said.

She padded her way back to the bridge. It was nice to visit with Steve as she had every morning for the last two weeks.

----------------- Bridge --------------------

Maia entered the bridge and took her seat. The Leto was almost to the border of Thorion space. That meant that eh subspace sandbar was nearly cleared and they could go to warp.

"Helm set a course for Betazed." The Captain ordered.

"Course laid in Captain, the helmsman responded. "We have cleared the subspace sandbar" He added.

"Excellent" the Captain replied. "Increase speed to warp factor six". The Captain continued.

The Leto slipped into warp, leaving the Thorion System behind rapidly in a wake of subspace eddies.

- Lower Levels - Marine Section -

Newly promoted First Lieutenant Karyn Somers still reeling from the unexpected promotion was in her office sorting out the PT schedules for the few Rifles they had on the ship and sorting out more SAR training, she was thinking of including other departments in such training as it only made sense, but that was for another time, now she had to make sure the unit on the Leto was operating at peak efficiency. She paused as she felt the engines change and as did the sound "ah warp, finally" She said to herself and returned to her duties.
