Mission: The Thorion Conundrum Mission Brief
Location: Unknown location

Toda had stunned Brannon and she was out for an unknown time. She woke up with a headache and a sore side when the stun weapon hit her on the left side. Brannon knew that now Toda would up her efforts to find the amulet. She also knew she had to resist at all costs to keep her from finding it. Because she would not be needed any more if Toda got the amulet.

She was able to get up after a little while and began to walk around slowly looking for a way to escape the cell. All she knew for sure was she was in an Orion cell and could not read the writing. She saw some weapons were stored outside the cell door. If she could get out of the cell she could use one to help her efforts to escape.

She took a piece of dirt and tossed it toward the door. The forcefield nearly destroyed it. So she knew it was set to kill if she touched it. So she had to be careful around that.

--
In another cell out of eyesight, Jamie was curled up on a mat that passed for a bed. They had finished with her for the day and had put her back in the cell. Her clothes were torn, dirty, and sweat-soaked, and it was obvious that she'd endured a lot. She heard the force field buzz as a clump of dirt hit it from another cell. oO What's the use? We're not getting out any time soon, Oo she thought. oO The Orions promised to come back for me. When will the Leto find us, if ever? Oo

"Not going to work..." she whispered to herself, feeling pretty damn low and defeated.

She opened her eyes though and looked at the force field system. Metal. Seams. No welding points but the Orion equivalent of screws. No rust, rats, or creatures, so no water to short anything out. Force field generated from left and right door seams. If they were the same kind of force fields they had back at Bellringer Station...maybe the emitters could be forced out of alignment somehow, shutting off the forcefield at her door. But it'd take a lot of strength to do it... oO I don't know if I'm that strong, Oo she thought to herself, the wheels turning in her head as she began running calculations in her head of the amount of force estimated to do what needed to be done. oO I can almost hold my own with a Vulcan female, but nutritionally I'm a bit lacking right now...Oo

At regular intervals, Guards brought food and medical care to each of you. It was explained that it was wrong for prisoners to be mistreated. That was taboo and considered very wrong in Orion society especially in the syndicate. There was a certain honour among thieves. For the Rixxian Caliphate, it was a different story, They loved to torture and maim but were kept under very strict scrutiny by the syndicate. It was one of the ways the syndicate kept almost sycophantic loyalty among its members. It seemed that the only time the Syndicate was brutal was when they encountered resistance then the slaughter began in earnest.

Brannon heard noises in another cell. She spoke softly. "If we work together we may be able to find a way out of here. I am Lt Brannon from the Leto.

Samantha recognized the name, if not the voice. She crawled towards the force field of her own cell. ""Doctor Blake here. Who else is being held here?"

Brannon smiled, she knew Dr Blake. "I am not sure of any others here. Toda kidnapped me and when she brought me here. She knows what my Betazed name is and wants an amulet I have that belonged to my mother. She wants it but I have to resist her. If she gets it there is no reason to keep me alive.

"Brannon is that you?" Steve said.

Our captors have us indisposed in these neural inhibitors. I can speak but not act. How are you?" Stave asked.

"You guys alive out there?" asked Jamie weakly, but loud enough to be heard. The hum of the forcefield generator continued in the background.

"Lt. Dougherty is that you?" Brannon asked.

"It's me...still alive...somewhat..." Jamie replied despite the numbness in her body induced by her own neural inhibitor.

Jamie was curled up in a fetal position on what passed for a bed, but something he said struck a nerve, and she recalled her own prior 'experience' with the Orions, and began struggling to move. It was like thousands of pins and needles arguing with her mind to stop, but she slowly moved her forearm, the sweat trickling down her brow in exertion. With an effort that seemed to her at the time herculean, she sat up. "If I really try..." she panted, "...I can move a little. They gave me a special setting here so I couldn't try to move." She panted a little before continuing, "Guess they didn't know I eventually managed to stand..." She failed to tell them how long it took, or how painful it was to do it, but her determination was growing to get the heck out of there, and willpower was key.

Guards brought food and medical care to them. She did not eat it or allow herself to receive medical care. She knew that it may allow Toda to slip her some kind of drugs to make her talk. And the medical could allow the same so she refused it.

She continued to look for a way out of the cell.

Brannon had been taken from her cell several times. Each time the torture was harder. Toda wanted the amulet bàd. She was using all her strength to resist.

They had beaten her up pretty bad during the sessions and each was getting worst. She still refused the food and medical care. She knew she could not give Toda what she wanted. If she did she would be no use to her anymore. And Toda would kill her.

The last time they dealt with Brannon, She was dragged back where she was unable to walk on her own. She had to hold out.

The Orion guard who saw Brannon dragged back to her quarters unconscious, reported the incident to his superiors. Unknown to Brannon, Toda had been told off/ reprimanded by the pirate authorities and told to lay off Brannon or she would be executed herself. Torture of prisoners was deeply frowned upon in Orion society. It made an already tenuous alliance with the Riixian Caliphate even more tenuous as they didn't have any qualms with torture or intimidation. After that the prisoners were treated much better.

Brannon laid there trying to recover some. She wanted the guards to think she was still unconscious so they may feel safe talking in front of her. She listened to what they were saying. One of the guards mentioned that the cell release was going to be checked by maintenance and they would have to stand guard on the prisoner in the cell. They got their weapons and took up a position to be sure the prisoner was not able to escape.

Brannon slowly sat up and looked around as the one doing the maintenance did his job. They were to far apart to allow for an attack on all three at once without a weapon so Brannon decided to wait. She finally gave in and ate a small amount of the food and applied some ointment to the phaser burn on her side where she was stunned by Toda.

She thought to herself, odd that Toda was being careful not to go too far beyond what was allowed. But still the torture was severe. She new she needed to just hold out till the Leto arrived to rescue her and Dr. Blake. She pretended to be hurt worst than she was to hopefully find and edge to use to allow them to escape.

One of the guards smiled, " Good you need to keep up your strength. You are no good to any one if you are not healthy."

Toda was not happy with the new constrictions placed on her. She wanted Brannon in constant pain and anguish. It wasn't enough to simply get the crystal she wanted Brannon dead by any means. She thought to smuggle her off the Pirate base with her own ship however the Thorion authorities were closing in even going so far as to set up a Tachyon detection grid. She was almost as trapped as Brannon was for all intents and purposes.

Toda did the only thing she could which was to contact the Riixian Fleet to cause a diversion.

Brannon notice that Toda was less occupied with her and more like something was distracting her. They finished the work on her cell door and left. She knew the thorn in Toda's side had to be the Leto.

And that means they would be doing a rescue mission soon. She just had to hold in a little longer. With them gone she continued to look for a way to escape. And noticed that the cell temperature had been turned down she was feeling the cold due to only wearing a bikini. She figured this was another way that Toda was trying to force her to talk. She made sure not to let on like it bothered her.

"Doctor how are you holding up?

Four Orion pirates come by my cell, they open the door and come in. "We are here to take you someplace safe from Toda. We think she is trying to kill you. Come with us.

Brannon replies, "OK, but can we take my friend in the next cell so he is safe too."

They shake their heads yes and get the Dr too.
