Ryan accompanied his new wife to Sickbay. He looked at her with a genuine smile of happiness. "Are you ready for what lies ahead for us and our soon to expand family Mrs. Toran-Blake?"

"Yes Imzadi, I am so happy it is finally official. I am looking forward to what the future holds for both of us and our children," Sheena said smiling and kissed him quickly.

Robert had been speaking with his wife Alice and their children Tom and Petra. They where visiting Earth to see first Alices family and parents then Roberts. With the conversation over Robert left his office and began his rounds.

" Hello you two. How can we help you today?" Hendon asked

Ryan turned his gaze to Robert. "Physicals for both of us and obstetrics exam for Sheena. She is starting her second trimester."

"Yeah and I'm beginning to feel like a hippo. I know I gained weight but this is crazy. Are you sure I am just having a boy and not...", *chokes* "Twins?" Sheena tried to keep a straight face as she saw Ryan's face go white. It was to precious and wished she had a vid cam of it.

From his own experience with his wife Alice. Robert knew immediately by her stomach size. How many little persons were in there. But he check her readings to confirm.

“Well. From my own experience with my younglings.I hope you have put all your breakables out of reach of tiny hands. Yes it is indeed twins you are carrying.” He said.

Ryan gave the good doctor a double take with more than a few eye blinks for good measure. "You said...twins?"

“ Yes indeed. Twins. They’re both in the correct position. All vitals reading just wright.” Robert informed them.

*Chokes* "Twins?" Sheena's face paled a bit, "Oh my four Dieties. He did say twins!" *looking at her belly* "Argh I'm gonna look like a cow or worse!" she blurted out. Looking at Ryan in horror "My parents, your parents also. How are they going to take the news?"

Ryan glanced at Sheena with a stunned expression. "My parents will be ecstatic. Yours probably the same I guess." He turned to Robert. "As much as I hate to ruin the surprise. Could we get the gender please?"

Robert pressed some panels on the scanner and checked the readings.

“ Ok. A boy and a girl.” Hendon said.

Sheena almost fainted when Robert said 'boy' and 'girl' as her face went white. She laid down from her sitting position, grabbing the sides of the biobed, fearing she would fall from it. She could feel the shock that was coming and eventual passing out. "Boy and girl, Oh my god...." and true to nature, she did pass out from the shock.

Ryan took hold of Sheena's hand with a fearful glance towards Robert. "Doctor?"

Hendon checked her readings. He picked up a hypo altered the settings and pressed it against her arm.

“ Her blood sugar level just dipped. Rare but not life threatening. That should help. What is her diet?” He asked

Ryan gave the question a moments thought. "We try and have a sensible breakfast, usually toast, oatmeal or cereal, piece of fruit, she has been limiting caffeine intake, so juice or water for her. You would have to ask her about lunch. Dinner varies depending on our mood."

“Ok. You must make sure she is eating properly. She’s eating for three so the quantity will have to be upped. Try and get her to eat more vegetables as well as fruit. Best to keep to Earth grown varieties if possible. I’ll give my mothers recipe program for vegetable soup. Stay off any Betazoid fruits and vegetables the salt content is way to high.” Hendon informed him.

"Ok who turned out the bloody lights?" she barked. Sheena did not like the idea of being knocked out.

Robert gave her a friendly smile.

" Actually you did. What with the shock and your blood sugar dropping. You passed out on us. Don't worry no harm was done. But and I cannot stress this strong enough. You must eat at least three proper meals and they must be triple portions. With the three of you there wont be any weight problems. Once the younglings arrive. But while they are inside you it is very important to eat for three." He advised them.

Ryan looked between Sheena and Robert. "You recommend a dietary plan and I will make sure she sticks to it." He turned back to Sheena. "Blood sugar crashes can be dangerous, not only to you but the babies also."

Sheena was still reeling with the news but the thought of eating for three really gave her a jolt. "Geez I'm gonna look like a cow!". Looking at Ryan and then Robert, "How soon can I get out of here?"

“Now.I just need to draw up and download this diet for you Sheena then you’re good to go. Ryan if you would like to follow the nurse she will do your check up. Then hopefully if you can return in week Sheena just to make sure the twins are growing well.” Robert said.


Ryan gave Sheena a quick kiss. "Be back shortly."

Watching Ryan leave, Sheena was content to wait for the doctor and the return of her husband....
