Reporting In

Mission: Shore Leave
RJ suited up in her new uniform. It had been some time since her last posting on the Dreadnought and she'd been granted extended leave after their harrowing last mission. The capture and torture which she endured had been enough to leave her with lasting nightmares, but after a few months of shore leave, she felt ready to return, though not in the same capacity.
The Leto was a smaller ship, and as such, it made the walk to report to the Captain a shorter more pleasant walk. Reagan tugged at her collar a final time and wiped non-existent dust from her uniform before ringing the bell.
Captain Sterling was on the bridge when she called Commander Totan and Commander Blake to her office. There was a new engineer onboard and she thought it would be a great time to interview her. They had been short ever since Lieutenant Doherty left the Leto to pursue a career on a different ship in another fleet. It had taken some time to find a decent replacement. Commander Toran had stepped up to fill in, but she was the XO and had other duties to perform.
The Leto was a state of the art Norway class starship, used mainly in diplomatic missions of great importance to the Federation. She thus far had an exemplary record of excellence. In Pegasus fleet she had a unique mission profile. As the first starship dedicated to the diplomatic mission of the Federation, she was equipped with a Marine detachment with a full honor gaurd, a full suite of diplomatic quarters and banquet halls and extensive VIP quarters. Only the best people were assigned to the Leto for all the reasons stated above.
Maia went through Reagan Quinn's personnel file and noted that she was at the top of her promotion class. Perhaps she was the right person to make her Chief Engineering Officer. Time would tell.
"Captain, Commander," RJ nodded to each officer in the room as she stepped inside. The office looked state of the art, embedded with the latest technologies, and Reagan's engineering heart skipped a beat in excitement. "I just thought it would be best for me to report in now before I headed to engineering to get acquainted." She smiled.
"It is customary to report to the captain, I've been looking forward to meeting you. Our last chief engineer transferred to the fifth fleet about two months ago. Our First officer has been filling in engineering as that was her specialty. Tell me lieutenant, what would you consider to be your specialty," Captain Sterling said.
"I'd have to say propulsion theory is my strong suit. That and I have a knack for finding inefficiencies in systems. I made quite a few improvements on my last ship. Overall increased our warp drive efficiency by 6%," RJ replied.
"It will be good to have a chief engineer again. I have been getting my hands dirty in engineering I dare say. I bet you can tweak the engines to deliver more speed when needed," Sheena said smiling at the new Chief.
"I do love a good engine tweak," the engineer let out a small chuckle.
"6 percent is an impressive and commendable accomplishment," Maia said. "How are you with spatial anomalies?" The Captain added.
"I haven't experienced too many of them in my career as of yet, so there's always room to learn more. I will say we adapted well to the few we did come across. I attribute that to always having a great team in engineering to help solve problems, something I'm sure will be the same here." RJ replied honestly.
"I definitely need a ChEng who can think quickly n his feet. You might just fit the bill Lieutenant." Maia said.
Ryan was glad to have a highly qualified engineer onboard ship. Sheena was going to have to go on light duty when she got to her last trimester of the pregnancy. "Your arrival is quite fortunate for the Leto Lieutenant Quinn."
Yes indeed, our current XO has been doubling as the ChEng, but she is pregnant and will be moving to light-duty soon. Your arrival is fortuitous." Sterling stated.
Sheena faced Lt. Quinn and offered her hand. "It will be a good thing to have you here. Welcome aboard!", she said.
RJ accepted the shake with a smile. "Thank you, I look forward to being a part of such a prestigious crew."
"Actually I look forward to working closely with you!" Sheena said chuckling.
"Same," RJ replied. It had been a long journey through recovery the months prior, but this first meeting had been encouraging. For the first time in a while, she felt excited about what adventures would come on the Leto and about those she would be working with.
"For now I want you to shadow Commander Toran she will show you the ropes and hopefully get you up to speed on the specifics and specifications of the Leto. She is a tough ship with an outstanding reputation." The captain said.
Ryan gave RJ a nod and smile. "Welcome aboard Lieutenant."
"Shadow Commander Toran, got it," RJ replied with a smile. "Thank you, again."
Commander Toran will show you around engineering and get you acquainted with the engine room, if there are no further questions, you are dismissed. Welcome aboard Lt Quinn." Maia said.
