Positive Identification

Posted on Thu Dec 30th, 2021 @ 11:21pm by Captain David Blake & Lieutenant Commander Ryan Blake & Lieutenant Commander Robert Hendon & Lieutenant JG Marina Tanger

Mission: The Riixian Insurection
Location: Strategic Operations Center
Timeline: Prior to Marina’s return to the Caliphate

David entered the SOC with Marina in tow. There was a good chance they were going to finally complete the mission began more than four years ago. He tapped his commbadge. "Doctor Hendon to the Strategic Operations Center with a DNA analysis kit."

“ =/\= On my way. =/\=“ Hendon replied

Marina followed behind Ryan’s father, for the moment she was simply acting her part until such time as she was finished her assignment within the Caliphate.

Ryan was speaking with the warrant officer that headed up the communications division as Marina and his father walked in. He excused himself to meet them at the front desk.

David spoke quietly with Ryan for a moment. Ryan glanced at Marina before turning back to his father and nodding. He spun to look about the bullpen. "Everyone head to the mess hall and grab an early meal. Be back here in an hour." The junior officers and crew secured their stations and filed out.

Marina watched as everyone filed out, she hoped this was a precursor to Ryan finally learning the truth about her disappearance and lack of contact with him. Walking over to the replicator she ordered herself some ginger tea, and a few biscuits. The tea, and a small snack seemed to help with her morning sickness.

Ryan moved to the secure communications console and, by the time Marina had gotten her tea and biscuits, had a link established with the Betazed medical database.

A few minutes later Robert arrived. He noticed the doors were closed. After all the new security checks and dead bodies. Instead of just walking in. He pressed the door chime.

Ryan crossed to the door and keyed in the access code to allow entry for Doctor Hendon. He ushered the man in as his father stepped forward.

David shook hands with Robert. "Thank you for coming so promptly Doctor. I would appreciate if you would perform a DNA scan of Lieutenant Monroe's unborn child. It will provide us with the means to positively identify the father, who is the leader of the Riixian Caliphate terrorist organization. Ryan has already established a datalink to the Betazed Central Medical Database."

Marina looked towards Robert, nodding her head to give her permission.

Well the secret was out. He gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze.

“ Ok. This won’t take long. Please lay as flat and still as you can,” Hendon said as he ran the scanner over Marina’s stomach.

It took a short while. But then he pulled the probe away. After ten minutes it bleeped and Robert showed them the result of the DNA scan.

“Hope this helps.”Hendon said.

Robert took a step back. Now more people knew about her condition. He hoped they would stop her getting more involved.

Ryan uploaded the DNA analysis results to the data link. He turned to the others and shrugged. "The search could take time. There's millions of on file medical records to cross....", the computer chirped. ^Match found.^

David stepped over to the screen and looked at the name. His face paled slightly.

Marina saw the look as she sat up and looked at David. “What does it say?”

"Andaran Easen." David spoke the name quietly. Any one who had studied the Dominion Occupation of Betazed knew that name. A Betazoid counselor who led a resistance cell credited with the death of nearly one thousand Jem'Hadar during the liberation of Betazed. He was a hero of the Dominion War that disappeared shortly after the war's end.

Ryan was silent. He had read about the legendary Betazoid that could kill a Jem'Hadar soldier by just looking at him. "That doesn't make sense. Why would a hero of the Occupation now try and conquer a planet?"

“He wants to rule” Marina shook her head. “The war changed a lot of people, some for the better and some for the worse. He wants to be a hero in a different way now.”

David knew a great deal about the man calling himself Andreas now. David had been a young Lieutenant junior grade stationed on Betazed when the planet was occupied. He had spent months in hiding, training local people on the best methods to mount a resistance.

Andreas had been the leader of a resistance cell in those days. At first taking shots at Jem'Hadar with phasers, but escalating to suicide bombing and even developing a means to use his telepathic abilities to manipulate others. "I think it goes beyond wanting to be a hero."

“I know” Marina nodded. “These days he considers himself to be more of a ruler. He’s building his own empire, made up of the strongest telepaths and empaths he can find.”

David remembered the final days of the Occupation. Andreas, as he was called now, had reveled in his ability to kill Jem'Hadar and Vorta with just a thought. "Worse, he most likely thinks of himself as a God."

Marina nodded. “Very likely. He’s creating his own empire with plans for it to be bigger, but he hasn’t told me what he plans to do yet.” She paused. “My abilities are comparable to his, he taught me to be the best and I’ll use that against him if I have to.”

“ Please be careful though. Remember your not alone anymore.” Robert said

Marina nodded, knowing that Robert was referring to the tiny life she now carried within. “I will, that I promise. I plan on coming back to my new family here.”

There was nothing more he could do or say. Deep in Robert’s heart he knew he should of physically stopped her going. There was to much risk to the fetus inside her. But she was determined to go. So he just sadly nodded.

David turned to Robert. "Doctor Hendon, you just did what Starfleet Intelligence hasn't been able to do for years. Now we know who the leader of the Caliphate is. We will be able to put a stop to this planetary civil war and with luck, bring the bastard to justice."

Robert should of felt easy about that. Instead he felt a little sick.He had just given them the key to Pandora’s box.

Marina looked at David. “Now all I have to do is get back there, with a story Andreas will believe. He’s nobodies fool so it’s going to have to be good.”

David nodded as he glanced at her. "We'll come up with something."
