Mission: The Thorion Conundrum Mission Brief

The express transport shuttle just docked with the USS Leto. Lieutenant Kasey Tanger was now aboard his new assignment. He exited the airlock and proceeded to make his way to find a member of the command staff to report in. He was assigned to the Leto to be the chief diplomatic officer and to become involved in the finalization of a treaty between the Thorions and the Federation.

He travelled lightly as he did not keep much in the means of physical possessions but what he did own was placed in storage on Earth for the time being. He walked towards the turbolift to make his way to the bridge and unintentionally bumped into a young man who was coming out of the turbolift.

"Excuse me, I was not meaning any harm." Tanger stated to the lieutenant stepping out of the the lift. "I was making sure this lift would take me to the bridge."

Ryan took a half step back as he looked up from the PADD in his hand. "Pardon me. I should not be reading when I step off the turbolift." He took a moment to look at the young officer. There was something vaguely familiar about him. "Is there anyone I can help find." He struck out his right hand after switching the PADD to his left. "Lieutenant Blake, Strategic Operations by the way."

"Hello, I am Lieutenant Tanger. I am to be the Chief Diplomatic Officer on this ship." Kasey stated with a firm handshake and a smile. "I bet your first name wouldn't be Ryan, would it?"

Ryan cocked his head to one side. The man looked familiar and it was apparent that he knew Ryan from somewhere. "I believe you have me at a disadvantage. Have we met before?"

"I was reviewing the crew manifest and I also think we may have met before." Kasey stated. "I believe we attended the academy together. In fact I believe we may have had a few classes together."

Ryan studied Kasey's features for a moment before slowing nodding. "Commander Warren's class on First Contact Protocols during our second year." Ryan gave a friendly smile. "Welcome aboard. Have you met the Captain yet?"

"No I have not met the captain yet, I was on my way to find the bridge when I bumped in to you." Kasey replied. "I still keep in touch with now Captain Warren. I guess you can say he has been sort of a mentor since my parents died just before my senior year. So how long have you been on the Leto?"

"I joined the ship at Starbase 50 when Captain Sterling assumed command as the refit was being completed." He gestured about. "She is actually my first ship assignment as the last four years since graduation have been at the Starbase."

"Great. This is also my first ship assignment. I was always at embassies before." Tanger responded.

"Well, I was delivering a PADD with the latest updates on the Thorion diplomatic mission to Ambassador Langley. I think the Captain is with him to finalize the away team assignments. Would you like to come with me and meet them?" Ryan gestured down the corridor in the direction of the diplomatic facilities located on the deck.

"Yes, I have not even been assigned quarters yet, because I was directed to report first thing to the captain." Tanger replied. "I would appreciate the guidance." Tanger then followed Blake's gesture. "I appreciate a fellow classmate being a bonus on this ship."

Ryan thought about Sheena and Samantha being aboard, as well as, Senior Chief Keitel's presence as well. He gave a nod of his. "My girlfriend, sister and mentor are all serving aboard the Leto at the moment. It's wonderful to have people I am close to here."

"That sounds interesting." Tanger replied. "Glad you have a close knit support group. I sensed you had some pride about this ship. I do look forward to getting to know the crew."

The two lieutenants continued down the corridor. They arrived at the Captain's Private Mess just as Ryan's commbadge chirped and a voice summoned him to the Strategic Operations Center. He turned to Kasey. "Captain Sterling is inside. I have to go now." He struck out his right hand one more time. "Welcome aboard. I look forward to working with you in the future."

"Great to be here and thank you." Tanger replied as he shook Blake's hand. "I will surely be seeing you around."

Ryan turned back down the corridor to continue his work.

Kasey saw Ryan head back down the corridor and then he turned to the door to the Captain's private mess. He hesitated but made the door chime and awaited his permission to enter.
