Having gotten settled into her quarters T’Lanna made her way to the ready room to report to Captain Sterling. The worst part of starting aboard any new ship, or starbase, was having to report to everyone. Pressing the door chime she waited for admittance before crossing the room, placing a PADD on Maia’s desk, and offering a smart salute.
“Sergeant T’Lanna Vali, Medical Officer and Combat Medic Reporting for duty Captain.”
"Very nice to meet you, Sergeant Vali, I am Captain Maia Sterling. Welcome aboard. We have needed a combat medic for quite some time. Would you like some coffee or tea? Tell me are you all settled in?" Maia asked.
“A Vulcan spiced tea would be lovely, thank you Captain” T’Lanna relaxed her posture. “I have been to my quarters, just long enough to drop my things and get organised. I wanted to report in, I plan to visit Captain Somers as well. Ever the organised Vulcan” She smiled a wry smile.
"Very well Sergeant please take a seat and tell me about yourself."
Maia went to her replicator and ordered spiced Vulcan tea hot.
She then handed the young Vulcan her tea.
"Here you go," Maia said.
“Thank you Captain” T’Lanna smiled warmly as she took the tea and sat down. She blew it then sipped her tea before placing it down on the side of the desk. “Well I'm half Vulcan, half Betazoid, my father is Admiral Solan. Unfortunately, my mother is no longer with us, she was taken by the Borg at the same time as I was. Long story short I spent six years with the Borg before my sphere was brought down by an ion storm. My father found me, liberated me, and it’s taken a lot of years of hard work to be as I am today.”
"I can imagine, how did you get into Starfleet? I thought all former borg were to be carefully monitored," Maia asked.
“We are” T’Lanna nodded. “It helps to have a father with a lot of clouts to his name, he’s a serving Admiral and he sponsored my admittance to the Academy.”
I see, well let me call in Commander Blake and Captain Somers she is the commander of our Marine detachment.

Ryan tapped his commbadge as he sat at his desk in Strategic Operations Center. =/\=On my way Captain.=/\= He secured his terminal and headed out at a brisk pace.
"I wanted you to meet the XO and your direct supervisor it's the pretty standard operating procedure on this ship," Maia said.
“Of course Captain” T’Lanna nodded and smiled. “I would have made a point of meeting them anyway.”
Ryan stepped off the turbo-lift onto the bridge and crossed to the Ready Room door. He depressed the door chime.
"Enter"
"Ah, Commander Ryan Blake this is Sergeant T'lanna our new tactical marine medic."
T’Lanna nodded her head politely as she was introduced to Ryan. “It’s nice to meet you, Commander.”
Ryan acknowledged T’Lanna with a raise of his hand in the Vulcan salute. "Live long and prosper Sergeant."
T’Lanna returned the salute. “Peace and long life Commander.”
The call came in from the Captain she tapped her Commbadge =/\= on my way Captain, Somers out =/\= Karyn said and stood up, picked up a Padd and left her office, she headed to the nearest lift and entered and upon the doors closing "Deck One" she said and felt a slight jerk as the lift started and whisked her to Deck One. Eventually, the doors opened onto a busy but compact bridge, she only got a few looks in mild interest, she turned left and pressed the buzzer.
"Enter," The Captain said.
With that Karyn entered and her eyes settled on the First Officer "Hello Commander not seen you in some time, how have you been?" she asked him pleasantly.
Ryan nodded at Karyn, a small smile on his face. "Doing well. Busier than ever, what with more command duties and a wedding coming soon."
"Captain Karyn Somers, this is Sergeant T'Lanna Vali, she is our new combat medic. She just came aboard from starbase 50," Maia said.
T’Lanna stood to attention and offered the customary salute to the Marine CO. “A pleasure to meet you, Captain.”
"At ease Sergeant, glad to have you here, my unit has been needing a medic" Karyn said as she entered the room properly and sat down on one of the seats, and crossed her legs.
“Thank you Captain” T’Lanna smiled and took her seat again. “I’m surprised you haven’t had a medic assigned before, but at least I’m here now.”
"We have an excellent medical team on board Leto, but until now we haven't had a qualified field combat medic, Both the Leto and the starship Tomcat. Sometimes saving the galaxy can be hard on personnel. Getting replacements takes time, and a field medic was never part of our personnel inventory. I requested one about 6 months ago knowing that we are going ever closer into harm's way," Maia replied.
“Six months? Then you’ve waited plenty long enough Captain” T’Lanna offered a smile.
"Six months ago we were on this very planet, stopping a political and military coup, did you know that the crew is about 45 per cent Betazoid?" Maia asked.
"I think you will fit in quite nicely with this crew Sergeant" Maia continued.
“Thank you, Captain.” T’Lanna smiled warmly. “I didn’t know that this crew had such a large Betazoid contingent, I can imagine it must come in handy having so many empaths onboard. Though what people sense can be conflicting at times, as I’m sure you already know.”
"Empaths and true telepaths. It does at that, Sergeant. Is there anything else you needed?"
“No ma’am” T’Lanna shook her head. “I just wanted to officially report in.”
"In that case Welcome aboard. You are dismissed." The Captain said.
Looking at the Combat Medic "I will see you in below decks Sergeant" Karyn said as the SNCO got up to leave.
“Aye Captain” T’Lanna nodded, I’ll see you there.”
