With the Caliphate out of the way, and a new life aboard the Leto hopefully beckoning Marina made her way to Sickbay to see Doctor Hendon. As much as she'd hoped to find her daughter, there had been no sign of her at Caliphate headquarters, but her fight to find Aurora was not over by a long shot.
Walking into Sickbay she made her way over to Robert's office and popped her head around the door. "Knock, knock"
There was something very comforting in a good mug of coffee. Especially the real thing made from coffee beans grown from Italy. Plus it have a pleasant smell to. That was just as good as the tasty coffee.
Robert took a sip as he turned to his visitor.
“ Marina good to see you. Come on come in would you care for some real Italian coffee?” He asked
Not for me thank you” Marina shook her head before getting hit by the smell. “Actually scrap that, I’ll try one please.”
Hendon poured her a mug.
“ Help yourself to milk or cream. There is sweeteners in that blue bowl. This is the real thing nothing replicated. Even down to the very bean’s themselves. I freshly ground them my self.” Hendon said smiling.
Marina smiled warmly. "Thanks" she poured herself some cream and stirred in a sweetener then took a seat. Taking a sip she let it go down as she savoured the flavour. "Mmm that's pretty good."
“ Plus I use natural spring water. Gives it that mellow taste. One of my friends is a chef at a top London restaurant. He taught me how to do it. So apart from my delicious coffee how can I be of help?” Robert asked.
“Actually I’m here for my check up” Marina smiled and drank some more of her coffee. “Mmm this is delicious. Anyway after everything that’s happened I thought I’d volunteer for my check up to save you chasing me.”
Robert picked up his mug.
“ That is good to hear. Half of my time is spent chasing people for checks and physicals. But hey that’s half the fun of being part of a crew. So how have you been? Really been?” He asked.
“Honestly ...” Marina shrugged her shoulders. “It doesn’t feel good knowing you’re the reason why a lot of people got hurt. The crew are wary of me and I can’t say I blame them. I still have no idea where Aurora is, and losing my baby ...” She sighed. “The only goods thing right now are Kasey and Ryan.”
Robert stood.
“ That’s good. Anyway if you would like to follow me we’ll start. As always I have to ask if you are happy for me to carry out your check up or would you like a female medical staff member instead?” He asked
Marina smiled. “I’m perfectly happy with you, you’re one Doctor I do trust.”
“ I have to say that protocol and all that.” Robert said
Hopping up onto a biobed Marina lay down to let Robert do his work. “So would I be able to have more children in the future if I wanted to?”
Robert looked at her readings. Everything seemed to be ticking over perfectly. Although there was something he had in the back of his mind. But as usual with some thoughts. They had a habit of staying hidden.
“ I see no problem possibly from six months time onwards.Just to give your system time to steady down. There was no permanent damage done to your womb. So you will be able to carry a child full term.” He reported.
Marina smiled and nodded. “That’s a relief, but I doubt it would be that soon. It’s not like I have anyone here. Right now I just want to find where Andreas sent Aurora, and the other children. The Caliphate aren’t finished while they’ve got a new generation to raise.”
There was something else he was sure. But her readings looked fine. There seemed no warning signs of possible trouble and yet……
“ Well. Every things looks healthy but I can’t help the feeling there is something else to check….” Robert said.
“Oh?” Marina looked at Robert curiously. “What else would there be?”
Shaking his head Robert ran a probe over her mid section.
“ Well your readings don’t show anything so it is probably nothing to worry about. I see you have been eating properly that’s good.” He said.
"What were you looking for?" Marina looked at Robert curiously. "As for eating I've been doing as you instructed."
Robert shook his head.
“ It’s ok. Your physically good to go. However try and eat a few more green vegetables your iron levels are slightly low. How are your mental controls doing. Any head aches?” Robert asked
Marina shook her head. “No headaches, I’m stable for now.” She offered a smile. “I’ll adjust my diet accordingly to include those green vegetables, even though I’m not a big fan of them.”
“ My wife Alice has some rather tasty recipes if your interested. The twins Tom and Petra share your views on green vegetables. But her surprisingly tasty Brussel sprout sauce. Has made them the kid’s favourite.” Robert said.
“Sounds lovely” Marina smiled and nodded. “I’d appreciate that if your wife doesn’t mind of course.”
Robert nodded.
“ She’ll be over the moon. A chance for someone over Six years old trying her recipes. Alice will jump at the chance.” He replied
Marina grinned. “In that case I’ll look forward to it, thank you Robert.”
