Having already met Captain Somers, T’Lanna wanted to get to know the marine CO better. Making her way to Somers office she paused to straighten her uniform and pressed the door chime.
Karyn was working on some documents when she jumped as the door chime sounded "ENTER!" she said and in walked a new Rifleman with the rank of Sergeant.
Walking in T’Lanna moved across to Somers's desk, offering a smart salute. “I hope I’m not catching you at an inconvenient time Captain?”
*Returns the Salute* "At ease Sergeant, have a seat" Karyn said "I do believe we already got us a CMO, but you will be the first combat Medic we will have had on the Leto" she added as she called up the file.
"So Mr Vali, what brought you to this neck of the woods?" Somers asked as she read the file.
*Relaxing her stance and taking a seat* “I was offered the Leto, I was happy to accept, nothing more to it than that really.”
*Nodding absently* "I see, from your file it says you recently transferred from a regular Marine unit to the Rifles, any particular reason as we do not use armoured craft at all it is mainly all Phaser rifles or on the rare occasion TR116 Rifles, mostly it is regenerative rifles," Karyn said finally looking up.
“It makes no difference to me what the Rifles use Captain. I’m a Combat medic, I’m here to help those who are injured in the line of their duties.”
"You are also a Rifleman, you will be expected to confidently handle a weapon, you have your assignment orders?" Somers asked holding a hand out for her Padd.
“Yes ma’am” T’Lanna produced another copy of her orders having given one to Captain Sterling earlier. She handed the PADD to Somers.”
Taking the Padd Karyn looked at it and nodded satisfied as she transferred the assignment orders to her computer and handed the Padd back, she looked up "we have a small Med bay, and by med Bay I mean a converted cargo bay with very basic medical instruments in it, the place is meant to act as a Triage and overflow for Medical, it is rarely used, but I would like you when you have sorted out your quarters to do a stock check and test to see if the equipment is operational, it has not been used since this ship was commissioned as we have not needed it for anything, but if it could become like an Outpatients place where you could deal with headaches and other aches, it should ease things up in Medical" Somers said.
T’Lanna nodded. “I can do that Captain, am I permitted to put in a request for any equipment I think the med bay needs? After all, it needs to be a fully functioning medical facility for minor injuries, and medical ailments. Does the med bay have room to covert a section for physical therapy for marines? Or do I need to use the main ship facilities for that?”
Looking at the Medic "when I said basically I mean the cargo bay only has medical stuff in, but having an outpatients type place there would be a good idea I think, but you better consult with the Chief Medical Officer on that, after all, it will essentially be an annexe of Medical, so speak to the CMO on that idea" Somers added.
“Of course” T’Lanna nodded. “I’ve already been for my medical so I’ve met Lieutenant Commander Hendon. I’ll start with the med bay and see where we go from there.”
"Excellent, but coordinate with Commander Hendon heh! Do not want him to think we are stepping on his toes, so before I let you go, are there any other questions?" Somers asked.
T’Lanna paused to think. “Are there any current marines undergoing medical treatment? Or anything else I should be aware of?”
"None, all of my Rifles are currently in good health, they just get restless easily," Karyn said. "So if you have nothing further on questions, you have a point of contact for the CMO, are there any questions remaining?" Karyn asked.
T’Lanna shook her head. “No more questions Captain.”
"Okay, then you have your duties to do and I shall let you get to them, but do check in with the CMO and dismissed Seargeant," Somers said.
“Yes Captain” Standing up T’Lanna gave a salute before she headed on her way.
