Reporting to another ship

Posted on Sat Sep 19th, 2020 @ 12:20pm by Captain Maia Sterling & Lieutenant Commander Havri Belbre

Mission: The Thorion Conundrum Mission Brief

Lt Brannon had been busy in her career and never held back. She moved quickly through ranks and status and was happy to be assigned to the Leto as Chief Security/Tactical Officer. She was happy to be on a ship again. Being on a Space Station can get boring and cause you to let your guard down.

She was beamed on board and had her gear sent straight to her quarters. She then went to the Bridge. As she exited the the Bridge her eyes caught the weapons console and she stopped by it. She checked the controls and then felt the panel. She was the Chief.

After a few minutes she went to the CO's door and chimed in.

"Enter"

Commander Sterling sat behind her desk under a small mountain of PADDS a half fill cup of tea and a mission assessment briefing. She had been working through an even larger mountain of administrative tasks and this was before all her officers had even reported aboard.

"What can I do for you Lieutenant.....?" Maia asked.

"Lt Brannon reporting for duty Captain. I am from Betazed but was raised by adoptive parents from earth. And that is the reason I have an earth name rather than Betazoid. This confuses some people sometimes. I am the Chief Security and Tactical Officer on the Leto. Reporting in has is the tablet with my files maam."

"Welcome aboard then I'm delighted to have you on this ship." Maia said.

"How was your trip out here?" Maia asked.

LT Brannon replied, "It was great had a nice quiet trip and was able to get some rest coming out. I was even able to assist with recalibrating the ships weapons systems. Coming out too. I look forward to serving under you Captain.

"Keep in mind that our missions will have more of a diplomatic flavor to them. We are here to extend the olive branch of peace and good relations. Although some feel that the best diplomat is a fully charged phaser array we will only resort to that if the situation calls for it. Do you understand?"

"I do Captain, and sometimes an old war horse just likes to talk to the younger warhorses about their young days and their heroics they remember. And listening is a great Diplomatic tool itself. They think you care about them."

"I think we are going to get along just fine Lieutenant, Can I offer you something to drink?" Maia asked.

"Yes Maam, coffee black and no cream or sugar."

Maia walked over to her replicator, "Coffee hot and black".

She brought the coffee to her security officer.

"Tell me about your prior experiences Lieutenant. what are your likes and dislikes and how do you intend to make ships security the sharpest part of the ships compliment?" Maia asked.

While I was at DS-9 it was ok, mostly dealing with drunks and occasionally some minor security threats on the station. It was a relief to get to do some patrols on the Defiant and get away from that everyday stuff. But I did enjoy doing it I made Assistant Chief of Security when the Chief of Security retired and the new one wanted me promoted behind him.

I do have to say I learned a lot about Diplomacy there too. Dealing with high dignitaries traveling through and their customers.

"Oh what did you learn about diplomacy Lieutenant?" The captain asked.

The 1st thing was put enemies in the same cell.

2nd was you can fight them or you can talk them down when they are made. Example 2 Klingons was fighting. I got two Bloodwines and gave them. Said how about you go to a different corner and stay away form each other. It worked.

"So you trust your instincts. Good i trust mine too. Tell me what do you need to set up your department?" Maia asked.

"The main thing we need is control of the ship. We cannot have anyone not with Star Fleet in restricted areas. As you know some of the dignitaries will try to access restricted areas. So our first concern is securing those areas. Then we will need to be able to provide protection to anyone onboard the Leto. A lot of our enemies and the dignitaries enemies will do anything to prevent us from completing our missions. Even the most secretive missions have a tendency to be leaked out by accident."

"That is correct. How do you plan to stop it?" Maia asked.

"I was thinking there is a large conference room on Deck 4, we can use it for the dignitaries to negotiate in and the cabins on the deck for them to sleep in if they stay on the ship. This will contain them mostly to one deck and make it easier to keep track of them. Also have security details at all location we can to watch the Secure areas as well. I also plan to work close with the Marines on the Leto. They are an excellent resource to use on ship security.

I also want the honor Guard to be half Security and half Marines. I want to work closely with the Marine CO and their Marines.

The patrols going by will be able to keep an eye on them and monitor their activities."

"The Marines have been instructed to pick the finest cream of the crop for the honor guard, your men and women are free to apply but that is something that you and Captain Thrix will have to work out between you." Maia replied.

I will pass the information along to them Captain. Are there any special security needs you need me to address on the Leto ?

"Yes the Task force commander is coming aboard to officiate the launch of the Leto, I want your best security detail on it." Maia replied.

"I understand Captain, I will head it up personally and see it goes well."

"Is there anything else Lieutenant?" Maia asked.

"Will the uniform be dress or duty uniforms Captain for the Launch ceremony?

"Definitely Dress Uniforms, The whole nine yards, Lieutenant." Maia replied.

Understood Captain, permission to be dismissed and see to the details.

Yes of course You are dismissed Lieutenant and welcome aboard.
