CEO's Aftermath

Posted on Tue Jun 29th, 2021 @ 12:31pm by Captain Maia Sterling & Lieutenant Commander Robert Hendon

Mission: The Thorion Conundrum Mission Brief
Location: Captain's Ready Room, Sickbay, Jamie's Quarters
Timeline: Just after getting back to the ship

[ON]

Exiting the transporter room, Jamie was wan. She walked to the turbolift to get to her quarters and collapse. But that wasn't in the cards for her. Her comm badge chimed.

Hendon had been alerted to Jamie's condition and immediately got in touch with her.

" =/\= Hendon to Lieutenant Jamie Dougherty. Please come and see me in sickbay please. =/\=" Hendon said.

Jamie just sighed, and replied, tapping the badge, "Understood. I'm on my way."

--Sickbay--

Robert had expected the lieutenant to either refuse or keep him waiting. So he was surprised when Jamie agreed.

Jamie walked into the sickbay, her emotions a dark cloud within her mind, dulling her responses to the environment. Her uniform was still tattered, as was her tunic and tank-top undershirt, torn in places to see underneath even that, dirty and smudged with dried sweat a bit, a big difference from Jamie's usually impeccable dress.

"Doc? You asked to see me?"

" Yes I heard you had a rough time down there. We need to check you over." Hendon said.

Jamie walked in, the pins and needles finally having subsided, as she saw the Doc. "Sure thing. Where do you want me?"

Robert could tell by the way she walked in that she was holding back her emotions.

" Please sit on the bio bed," He told her.

Jamie sat as the Doc got out his tricorder and gave her a once over with the handheld scanner, looking between her and the screen.

Robert had seen these type of injuries before. His hatred for Orion's doubled.

" Those green.....sorry, " he said.

She was embarrassed to admit it as his sensor waved lower and he asked her about what happened. Her generous lips quivered a bit and her eyes watered.

" Did they take advantage of you?" he asked.

"Yes, they did," she replied quietly. "About a dozen times."

" Well. Physically there is some bruising. You're not with child thankful and no diseases seemed to have been passed on. Which is a small ray of light for you. But I am going to give you a hypo shot to boost your immune system. Also, you're going to need counseling I will book your first sessions with the counselor for as soon as possible. Now please go and rest. There is nothing I can give you that will help you forget. But there is help for you here on the ship."

"I appreciate it, Doc, thanks," she said in a sad, but slightly better tone of voice. She did appreciate it.

As soon as she left Robert contacted the Captain and told her of his concerns for the CEO.

--Captain's Ready Room--

Maia was in her ready still going over commendations for the crew. The slow cruise back to Thorion-4 was well, uneventful and slow going as this area of space was like a sandbar where warp drive was concerned. so at a speed of 1/2 impulse power they cruised,

=/\= Lt. Doherty please report to the captains ready room. =/\= Maia ordered.

She had put herself together and exited the turbolift at the portside aft of the bridge, and walked over to the captain's ready room, pressing the chime on the door to announce herself.

"Enter" Maia said.

"Chief Engineer Dougherty reporting as ordered, captain," she said in a flat tone, hopefully hiding her heart pumping a little faster, fearing what she would need to tell the captain.

"Ah Jamie thank you for responding so quickly. Some of us have noticed that you haven't been yourself since you got back from captivity. I wanted to know if you are alright, and what happened over there?" Maia asked gently

Jamie's lips quivered, eyes watering as she tried mustering up the courage to voice what happened. Despite her bravado, she had trouble voicing this. "The Orions...you know what they did a year ago at Bellringer, on my file? Full genetic replacement, made me, the nice way to put it, an 'infiltration agent,' right? I can use my...talents...to encourage people to do what I want. But the Orions had that collar on me, made it so I couldn't move..."

"Yes they used a neural inhibitor a nasty piece of technology." Maia said.

"They..." her voice caught in her throat as she got the words out, her voice quiet and small, totally unlike her, "...made me do things. I couldn't stop them...they called me their 'pleasure slave' if Starfleet didn't come for us all."

"While I'm happy to listen to you Jamie, Perhaps you should see the counselor. She is very good and could probably help you better than I can." Maia said gently.

"The worst part is I couldn't help the endorphin rush every time they did it; it's programmed into me," she admitted as the tears started flowing. "It's hard to admit it, Captain...every time they entered my cell...I couldn't stop them..."

"The inhibitor destroys your will so you can't actually fight it. It wasn't your fault. It's actually a form of rape." Maia said.

Jamie fought a bit, wiping her tears on her uniform sleeve, and took a breath to control herself. "I just never imagined it could happen to me," she said, her voice stronger, but still quivering a little. "The loss of control..."

"It could have happened to any of us, Jamie. The Orion technology gives them the ability to turn even the most dominant personality submissive while under the influence of the inhibitor. It's one of the reasons that the Federation and the Thorion authorities have outlawed the device." Maia stated.

"Seriously Jamie I want you to make an appointment with the counsellor and talk to her about it she may be able to help you. You need to come to terms with this violation." The Captain said.

"I will captain," Jamie nodded, her mass of red curls shifting as she did. "Knowing that even I couldn't fight it is a small consolation, though, so I appreciate that. I'll check with the counselor, as requested, captain."

"I will also check with the Thorion authorities maybe they have developed some kind of counter technology that can prevent this from happening in the future." Maia said.

"Let me know if there's anything on the engineering schedule needing immediate attention. I'll start Tiira and the rest on it ASAP."

"We just need to finish building the Federation embassy on Thorion-4." Maia said.

"If you like I can put you on light duty until you come to better terms with what happened to you." Maia said.

"Give me a day, day and a half, and I'll be able to finish up. I don't want to delay our mission too much more than I already have, captain," Jamie said. She was a tough cookie, more than her attitude sometimes belied. If there's one thing her family knew, it was duty and honor...aside from cracking jokes and enjoying a nice party with friends. "I appreciate you talking to me."

With a final gesture by the captain, Jamie gave her a nod, and exited the captain's ready room, walking back to the turbolifts at the aft of the bridge.
She felt a few stares but ignored them. oO Curious onlookers,Oo she thought.
