Lt. Dougherty had spoken to the captain and doctor, both of whom suggested she go to see the Counselor. Jamie had agreed to do it, but wanted to stop by her quarters to freshen up a bit. She would pick up her cats later from Tiira.
Jamie walked in to the quarters, and for a moment, screamed at the top of her lungs. It was the loudest shriek she'd ever made, her fists balled up. She didn't hold anything back, including her subvocal oscillations. She screamed till she ran out of air and her eyes watered.
Outside, a crewman heard the scream, and immediately felt a wave of pure anguish out of nowhere, and she ran off crying herself.
Back inside, Jamie turned to the bedroom and fell face-first onto the bed and grunted with effort and frustration. Falling hurt due to her unique anatomy. She rolled over and felt her body shift. Again, frustration.
Her clothes were kind of tatters, so she removed it, tossing them onto the floor, because it didn't matter at the moment to her mind. She stood unclothed, and walked to the shower, which she set for water, as opposed to sonic. As it warmed, she stood, hands on the bin of her sink, head down, struggling to restrain herself. Her long red hair reached down to her firm, round rear-end, covering practically her entire back due to the mass of curls.
She gripped the bin, tighter and tighter, as she began denting the metal. The Orions had made her stronger so their infiltration agent could handle species like Klingons. She was about where a man who regularly exercised would be, naturally, or unnaturally, as it were. Slowly, she looked up and saw she was a mess. But she saw the face, that perfectly symmetrical face, all following the golden ratio, full lips, tiny nose, wide eyes, and looked down at the fullness of her chest. She remembered Admiral Devane, who spoke to her after her rescue, as if it were yesterday. She was bitingly caustic, moralizing to Jamie at a vulnerable point that with an attitude of someone who thinks she's better than everyone because she has the 'right opinions' on things. She had asked how Jamie felt. Jamie quipped, "busty," as she looked down at her new body in front of the admiral. She replied, "The only place a female is ever described as 'busty' is on a dating site or a porn magazine. Just because you're a new woman doesn't mean you get to objectify us by body type. No one really even has hair like that. This is real life, not fiction. You're not even really a woman anyway with all they did to you. You should be 'entertaining' as they call it, not representing Starfleet."
After replaying that conversation in her head, she raised her head to the mirror again, and her face curled into one of anger, and she punched the mirror as hard as possible, shattering it into hundreds of pieces, and destroying the shelves behind it in the medicine cabinet, denting the deck plating behind it.
Jamie noticed the steam and walked into the shower stall, pulling out pieces of glass from her hand one by one, and letting them fall down the drain, and felt the heat of the water sooth some of the aches in her muscles. She got her mass of hair wet, running her hands through it to get it all wet, darkening it and straightening it even more than she normally kept it, as she turned to get wet all over to wash up before meeting the counselor. She didn't mind her hand. It would heal up quickly enough. Maybe Alessa wouldn't notice it by the time she got there.
It was then the weight of what happened fell on her and she couldn't control herself. She started crying, the tears blending with the water. The sobs just came, and she couldn't stop. For the first time in maybe a year or so, Jamie started sobbing uncontrollably, and slid down the glass partition, curled up to the side. She sobbed and moaned sadly as she cried, her face red with tears.
