The Thorion Conundrum Mission Brief
Location: Keitel's Offiice
Timeline: TBD
Betty leaned over to speak with the yeoman at the desk, "Look I am here cause the marines have landed in great numbers and the Bosun was less then helpful about getting the Enlisted settled."
Yeoman Third Class Wanda Sykes was trying to pull up the barracks order for the new Marine Detachment that had just arrived. The computer was being less than helpful though. Try as she might there was nothing in the information system that confirmed their arrival. She was about to make a call to the personnel office when the door to the Command Senior Chief's office opened and Senior Chief Henry Keitel stepped out on his way to a meeting the other senior ship's NCO staff in the Goat Locker.
Hank paused momentarily to find out what the problem was with the Marine and his yeoman. "What's the deal Sykes?"
Betty saw the CoB and snapped to attention she offered a salute, "Sir, Lance Corporal Andrews aka the 95th's Company Clerk. We have an issue locating bunks, bedding and expanded inventory for the thirty or so Marines Gorebets brought with him. The Bozun's office says it will take six to eight weeks to get that stuff brought here. Quartermasters office is swamped and can't give me an eta on Industrial or Standard Replicator usage for equipment. So I came to you before I went back to Gorebets empty handed and he came to you to make it an offical pain in all of our asses."
Hank listened attentively to Betty as she gave him the run down on the situation. He rubbed his chin and nodded. "On me Lance Corporal." He led her out of the ship's office and into the corridor. Two minutes later they arrived at the Chiefs Mess. "Grab a plate and have a seat next to mine. End of the table closest to the Federation Colors (flag)."
Betty followed and knew this was how to get stuff done. She pressed a button and the ration of the day appeared on her plate. "Roger tango."
She flopped down in the chair remembering just how long of a shuttle ride it had been, how many annoying things and persons she had to deal with. She added some sugar to the coffee that had been replicated and blinked a little.
"Its nice to skate once in a while. Real chow is nice, whats on your mind sir?" Betty asked.
The room was filled with Starfleet Chief and Senior Chief Petty Officers. They noticed the lower enlisted marine that had come in with the Command Senior Chief. No one said anything as Betty got a plate and sat down at the table with them.
Hank had gotten his plate and sat down. He pulled apart a roll and took a bite before looking at the Chief in Operations Gold. "Chief Yarrow. This marine tells me that 30 marines arrived today and that lodging still has not been established for them and from the looks of how hungry Lance Corporal Andrews appears. I would hazard a guess they haven't eaten as well. Since quartering of all enlisted falls on your department to handle. I suggest that you drop your fork and handle this issue."
Chief Yarrow swallowed the bite he was chewing on, grabbed his plate of food. "On it COB." Yarrow grabbed his plate and headed to the replicator.
"The Crewman in Quarter and supply was a guy called Fritz, blond haired real smarmy attitude said they have been backlogged for months you got no idea how much goodwill you just got from us. You are a Bigfoot thats for sure." Andrews said to the Chief.
Hank just nodded as he took a sip of coffee. He gestured at Betty's plate with his mug after the sip. "Eat up Lance Corporal. We'll be heading out to get your folks squared away as soon as we are done."
Betty wolfed down the rest of her food, "I feel bad we literally pulled one last combat run before here, Everybody in Alpha is tired. But lets do this, I was told to do this subtly but if you are going to breech a door use charges."
"You got moxey marine. I'll give ya that." Hank finished his meal and rose from the table with a beckoning gesture to Betty. "Let's go see about squaring your people away."
