New assignment

Mission: The Thorion Conundrum Mission Brief
Location: Maria's Quarters
Timeline: 249506.19

Having recently arrived on the USS Leto, Maria McMahon had been given a transfer after the recent mission that the Tomcat had been on to what she called Planet hell. She looked back at the PADD that lay on the table, It stated her next assignment was that of the USS Leto which was commanded by the Tomcat’s former Executive Officer, Along with a jump in rank to Full Lieutenant. Apparently, her former Team Leader for that mission Lieutenant Paul Winchester had praised her in his after mission report and had gone out of his way to get her the Promotion.

She sat down in front of the terminal and opened a channel to Betazed to let her Grandma know that she was safe as she would let her mother know as well, although she still had not forgiven her for the lie that she had been given for most of her life. When the screen lit up with the face of her Grandma, she said,=/\= Hi Grandma, just giving you a call to let you know I’m safe and have some news, =/\= over the open channel. As she sat in the Large quarters which housed a kitchen area and the desk where she sat looking at the face of the elderly woman on the screen.

=/\= So, Maria what is the news?=/\= responded the head of the Beisal family asking the question who was pleased to see her Granddaughter safe and well, she continued, =/\= And have you spoken with your mother yet?=/\= asking the follow-up question as she knew the pair of them had not spoken since she had left for her tour of duty on the Tomcat. Although all three of her grandparents had tried to mend the issue even with her Stepfather no resolution had been forthcoming.

=/\= Not yet Grandma,=/\= replied Maria looking back at the Matriarch of the family, she continued, =/\= But I will, I Promise and now for the good news,=/\= as she gave her Grandma a bright smile, she finished =/\= I got promoted to Full Lieutenant and given the position of Chief Operations on the USS Leto, =/\= as she could not speak about the horrors that she witnessed on planet Hell.

=/\= I hope so young one it is never too late to mend bridges that were once burnt,”=/\= replied Grandma Beisal, =/\= Also Congratulations young one, I will, of course, inform you're father of your the rise in rank and you're new assignment in case he tries to contact you,=/\= as the elder woman noticed the shock in her Granddaughters face when she mentioned her biological father. After all, he had refused to acknowledge her existence since he found out that she had been told by Starfleet and his Mother.

Just then a chime sounded on her terminal, she said =/\= hold on a minute Grandma,=/\= stated Maria quickly switching screens and finding a message informing her that the Leto had just docked, quickly switching back to her Grandma, Maria said, =/\= Grandma, I have to go, I have to report in,=/\= having dropped her bags off first.

Her Grandmother replied=/\= take care young one and be careful,=/\= as she closed the channel leaving Maria alone looking back at the screen that now showed the Federation symbol, she looked around the bare room and knew that she would have to get something like pictures and stuff to make it more homely, as she exited her quarters and noticed her fellow officers give a nod of her head, she walked up the corridor towards the nearest lift and towards meeting her new commanding officer.
