Change makes life worth living....

Kasey was finally off duty and had a chance to record a personal log.

"Computer start recording a Personal Log." Kasey asked of the computer.

The computer started the recording with a simple chime.

"Today was very exhilarating. The captain granted me my request to be transferred to engineering. Is this the real life or is this just fantasy? Not sure i have the proper words for this. My parents were diplomates and I wanted to honor them and be a diplomat but deep down I knew I wanted to be an engineer. I did double the work in the academy to get both specialties down and I graduated rather high in both fields. I found work as a diplomate exciting at first but that was when I was younger and confined to embassies and consulates. Even then I tinkered in engineering by working with the shuttle fleet to keep my abilities honed. Now, that I am on a starship, I find the diplomatic side of things not so fulfilling. Captain Sterling was gracious to allow me to transfer in to the Chief of Engineering and I am thankful. I was lucky that the XO who was covering the position was needing to step out do to personal issues, like having a baby. However, I am always going to be available to the captain and crew to still help out in diplomatic situations when needed. I have been so busy that I have yet had a chance to talk to my sister about the changes. I know she would be happy for me and I just want her to know that I am not against what our parents did and that I still hold them in a special place in my heart. I know they would be happy for me to be doing what I enjoy. Getting down in the bowels of the ship and getting my hands dirty will be good for me. I know Emily will understand my change and I hope that I will be able to make our relationship thrive now that I feel my purpose is finally being shown to me. Change is what makes life worth living for without change we would be constantly in a rut of dread. I am happy I am able to be who I feel I am meant to be and that I have the chance to show that to Captain Sterling and the rest of the crew of the Leto."

"Computer end recording. Save personal log." Kasey asked of the computer.

The computer chimed to signal to Kasey his log was no longer being recorded and that it was saved to his log file.
