Mission:
The Thorion Conundrum Mission Brief
Location: Deck 7 Holosuites
Timeline: Mission day 8
"The Buddy System is essential to your survival. It provides the enemy someone else to shoot at"
-Murphy's Law of Combat Operations-
ON:
All 3 platoons of the Starfleet Marines 95 Rifles that were assigned to the USS Leto were assembled outside the holosuites. They were assembled in their Combat Utility Uniforms. The orders given to them at this point was to assemble and wait for further instructions. Every Marine on that ship was assembled, standing at ease in front of a bulk head, and waiting to be told what was next. Within 5 minutes of the arrival of those Marines assembled, Captain Thrix, and Master Sergeant Tovin Hex came out of the holosuites to greet them.
"Attention" Bellowed Tovin Hex loudly. Followed by the sound of 1 single solitary crash as 3 platoons of Marines all at once came to attention.
"I see you all made it. That is a good thing. Today will be a very special day. Today, you are going to be reintroduced to a little thing called team work. Today is the day you are going to need to rely on the Marine beside you. Now, I know what you are all thinking. You are all thinking.....Well Captain Thrix...How are we going to do that. Aren't you? Well, I'm so glad you asked. First off, since Basic Training, you have all been told of the Buddy System. Well right now, I want you to pair off. I want everyone to have a buddy. Do that NOW" Said Thrix.
"MOVE IT, MOVE IT.....YOU MARINES MOVE LIKE OLD WOMEN." Yelled Hex. "MY GREAT GRANNY CAN MOVE FASTER THEN YOU. SHE DIED 5 YEARS AGO. MOVE YOUR BUTTS."
Within moments. they were all paired off. And waiting to be informed of the next step.
"Anyone not have a buddy?" Asked Thrix. Followed by silence. "Good. Now, the Master Sergeant and I have built an obstacle course in there. You, and your buddy need to make it through as a team. What do you think of that Marines, do you like a little PT? A little physical torture?" Asked Thrix to his men.
The men responded in a traditional Marine fashion. "WHOHAAAAAAA." Came the response from the entire company in unison.
"Outfreakingstanding" Said Thrix. "Now, I have 3 little surprises for you. Number 1- The First Sergeant and I are a team. Just like all of you. Number 2- There are holo-refs watching, and will be recording your times. and Number 3- The BEST part. One of you will be blindfolded at all times. We will switch off at lunch on who wears the blindfold. Now, the whole purpose of this exercise is to build teamwork. But first off....let me introduce you to your holo-ref." Thrix said as he opened the holosuite doors.
On the inside of the holosuite doors stood a huge man. He was Human. Wearing the uniform of a World War 2 United States Marine. Complete with the signature campaign hat associated with Drill Instructors. He was the kind of man who looked like he could stare down death and not blink. He looked at the Marines very carefully. studying them. and he grew more intimidated with every second of silence.
"So, This is what passes for a Marine in you're time Captain?" He asked with a voice that almost sounded like every morning he gargled in kerosene. And not for any other reason then the pleasant taste. "Funny, I thought they would all be Taller." He took a deep breath in. "ALRIGHT, LISTEN UP YOU FILTHY MAGGOTS!!!!!" He bellowed. "My name was Gunnery Sgt. Billy Sunday. There was a preacher by the same name who cleaned up Chicago of all the undesirables who were making that place unfit for decent folks to live. The ONLY difference between me and that old preacher is that he worked for God. and I AM GOD! Now, I want the first 10 of you to step forward."
10 men stepped forward. And you can believe 2 of them were Thrix and Hex.
"SO, before I take you and make you sorry you were ever born.....Who wants to quit?" Asked the Holo Gunnery Sgt. "Say it now, Who wants to quit?" Gunny Sunday Looked at a Marine who stepped up as one of the 10. "You, You think you have something to offer?" He asked. The Marine stood there silent, wondering why he found this holocharacter so intimidating. Gunny Sunday carried on and continued addressing all. "Who wants to save me the sweat of training your sorry ass?" Then Gunny Sunday started looking at individual Marines. " You?.......You?" Then Gunny Sunday pointed to another one of the 10 men who stepped forward. "What is your name Scumbag?" He asked looking at a particular Marine.
"Private Stevens Gunnery Sergeant" Came the reply.
"Stevens you are ugly enough to be a Modern Art master piece. How tall are you?" Gunny asked
"5 ft 9 in" replied Stevens.
"5 ft 9, I didn't know they stacked shit that high. Are you trying to squeeze an inch on my somewhere? Well, What is YOUR excuse?" Asked the Gunny?
"Excuse for what Gunnery Sergeant?" Asked Stevens.
"I'M ASKING THE BLOODY QUESTIONS PRIVATE, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" Gunny Sunday Yelled.
"YES GUNNERY SERGAENT." Yelled Stevens in terror.
"WELL, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. CAN I BE IN CHARGE FOR AWHILE?" Gunny Sunday yelled
"YES GUNNERY SERGEANT" Yelled Stevens.
"ARE YOU SCARED, DO I MAKE YOU NERVIOUS PRIVATE?" The Gunny Bellowed.
"VERY GUNNERY SARGEANT."
Gunnery Sergeant Sunday knew he made his point. He went back to addressing everyone.
"From now on, you all will speak only when spoken to. and the first and last words out of your filthy sewers will be Sir. Do you maggots understand that? The Gunny said.
"Sir yes sir." Came the companies reply.
"Bullshit, I can't hear you. Sound off like you got a pair." The agitated Gunny said.
"SIR YES SIR" Came a louder company response.
"IF you ladies survive my training, you will be a weapon. You will be a Minister of Death, praying for war. But, until that day....you are pukes. You are the lowest form of life on Earth. You are not even human fucking beings. You are nothing but unorganized grabastic pieces of amphibian shit. Because I am hard, you will not like me. But the more you hate me the more you will learn. I am hard. But I am fair. I do not look down on anyone. Here, you are all equally worthless. And my orders are to weed out all non hackers who do not pack the gear to serve in my beloved corps. Do you Maggots understand that? Gunny Sunday said.
"Sir Yes Sir" Replied the company
"Bullshit, I can NOT hear you." Gunny Sunday said.
"SIR YES SIR" Came a stronger reply.
"Now, YOU WILL go in 10 at a time and do this course in 2's. Oh, and IF you think rank has ANY bearing on doing this course OR how you will be treated, you are sadly mistaken." Then Gunny Sunday looked at Hex and Thrix.
"Got that my lil sweet cupcakes?"
"SIR YES SIR" Bellowed thrix and Hex.
"I CAN'T HEAR YOU. SOUND OFF LIKE YOU BOTH OWN A PAIR. AND I DON'T MEAN BETWEEN YOU." The Gunny yelled.
"SIR YES YES!" Thrix and Hex yelled louder.
"Alright Ladies, lets start. But remember.....Gunny Sunday sees EVERYTHING. Now first 10 get in here. MOVE IT." Gunny Sunday said as the first 10 hurried in.
Thrix and Hex both rushed in. Thrix knew that everything was mainly his idea. Hex was a big help in planning. but so far, only 1 thing remained to be seen. How much today was going to hurt.
