Lieutenant JG Samuel James
Name Samuel James
Position Assistant Chief Flight Control Officer
Rank Lieutenant JG
|Physical Description||An averagely heighted man with a lean build, Samuel has a rather elongated head with a stubble beard, though little by the way of unique physical characteristics.|
|Mother||Commodore Zoe James|
Personality & Traits
|General Overview||An only child growing up, James has always been the introverted type. A studious hard worker and generally kind person, he usually the well liked but quiet character in a group.|
|Strengths & Weaknesses||With a book smart nature coupled with an introverted nature, Samuel takes great pains to be knowledgeable in any areas of study he undertakes. However, he struggles with socialising in new groups and asserting authority on a situation.|
|Ambitions||Aiming to one day follow the footsteps of his mother in becoming a line officer of the fleet, James first has his sights on becoming a chief helmsman of a front line exploration vessel.|
|Hobbies & Interests||A keen player of the saxophone and always interested to immerse himself in the ancient mythologies of races, James' overbearing interest has always been in flight. From the earliest rudimentary experimental flights of the 20th century through to the cutting-edge flight controls of starships, Samuel is always interested in piloting new vessels.|
|Personal History||Growing up as an only child of the then-Captain of the USS Turner and her husband, Samuel lived a rather isolated life onboard the Excelsior-class vessel, a class of ship not known for it's child-friendly operation.
With a distinct lack of other children on board, the young Sam instead threw himself into his studies of physics, mechanics and biology, having heard of the assignments of the Turner, though a particular mission through a tightly packed asteroid field sparked an interest in how the ship had manoeuvred through the density of it.
As he entered his early teens his mother received her promotion to the rank of Commodore and took on her new role at Starbase 137. Whilst Samuel was now technically grounded, he would often head to the docking bays and just watch shuttles and work bees fly around the ports.
Deciding at the earliest opportunity to join Starfleet academy, the young man took particular interest in joining a flight control team, often placing near the top of his class.
Having the opportunity to pilot a Miranda-class vessel during his cadet cruise, he knew that being at the helm of faster and bigger ships of the line would be his calling.
