Mission: The Thorion Conundrum Mission Brief
Location: Orion Asteroid Base
Timeline: 239405.11

[ON]

Kulej was an Orion male of 18 years of age who made a living as a pirate and mercenary. Kulej was born and raised on the Orion homeworld. At a young age, he showed great leadership skills. As a teenager, he joined his fellow Orions and came aboard an Orion pirate vessel as an assistant in selling slave women. He showed great skill in negotiating with clients. Even the great pirate Captain Arwella was impressed with him and assigned him as a security officer to gain experience. He had been a guard and a negotiator in small things and Arwella had given him more responsibility. In two years, after a disagreement with his former captain, he ended his affiliation with the Orion Syndicate to work on with Arwella’s crew exclusively. That former captain had been destroyed by a Federation battlecruiser called the Tomcat. That former captain disobeyed orders to seel glory and wealth on his own. The crew he was now on was made up of a large assortment of different species, one including a former rogue Starfleet Lieutenant named Nick Carlucci who joined in 2382 and left Starfleet six years later, became one of Kulej’s best friends and confidants. It was Nick who taught him about honour and right and wrong and to always do your best no matter what. It was Nick who encouraged him to join Arwella’s crew and her fiefdom in her part of the galactic syndicate.

Kulej had accumulated about a ton of Pergium ore almost enough to buy his own Elasi Tsunami class battle frigate, equipped with a cloaking device. However, he had even more wealth than that slave girls. He himself always treated his slaves well. It was the one thing about the Thorion’s he actually admired. They had broken away from the Orion Empire and even the syndicate held little sway. They even drove off the Dominion without anyone’s help. Kulej was by no means a racist but some of the unsavoury types that the Syndicate did business with had very little honour. For example the Riixian Caliphate. They seemed to be motivated not by greed or power in any recognizable form but by a sense of deep hatred and personal destruction for individuals. They actually tortured one of the prisoners. A Betazed woman named Brannon. Kulej went to Nick to seek his advice. Nick said he would contact his superiors and report the incident.

It wasn’t long before Kulej and Nick and Toda were all standing tall before Slurg, one of Arwella’s enforcers. Slurg was a large Gorn almost 9 feet tall. He was clothed in full battle armour and rather intimidating as he was cold-blooded. He did not approve of the mishandling of the prisoners and ordered them to be moved out of the control of the Riixians. Toda argued but she was the one in error. Slurg could easily bite her head off. Even Toda had to be diplomatic in her choice of words and tone. Slurg just had that effect on most people. Eventually, Toda was forced to submit or lose her freedoms too.

Slurg ordered Kulej and Nick to escort the Betazoid and the Federation prisoners to his ship, get them whatever medical help they might need and see to their comfort.

Kulej and Nick followed orders and went to the prison section to move the prisoners.

The Orions came and opened both my cell door and also Dr Blake's cell. Brannon went over and checked on Dr Blake. He was hurt but still in decent shape considering what he had been through. Brannon removed the neuro-transmitter from Dr Blake and then felt for the one on her and removed it also. Once they were off she could then use her telepathic powers again.

The Orion guards were going to move them to another location and see they got medical attention. She also was able to find out that they were removed from the custody of the Riixians and Toda was no longer able to bother them without being arrested herself. She was thinking of a way to convince the Orions to turn Toda over to her so she could be arrested by Star Fleet.

"My name is Lt. Angelina Brannon and I am a Star Fleet Security Officer. My friend's name is Dr Blake. Thank you for helping us out. I was wondering if I can ask something of you?

"I am Kulej. I know who you are, that's one of the reasons why you are being moved. Casual torture is frowned upon in the Syndicate. Topda will no longer be allowed to abuse you." Kulej replied.

Brannon replied, "You know Toda will be a most wanted person. And will be tracked down by the Federation and Betazoid Government.

The best thing to do is to turn Toda over to be placed under arrest. Where she will be given a fair trial. Then sent to prison for her crimes.

Jamie was in a poor condition, but the feeling in all her limbs was returning, as she was being helped up and out of the cell, the neural inhibitor having been removed. One of the Starfleet officers was helping her walk, and she nodded to Blake and Brannon. Just seconds before they had arrived, she was attempting to stand and walk to try to escape; an impressive feat of will for someone with a collar on, but she was a determined person.

Samantha rubbed her neck for a few moments after the collar was removed. She looked at the others before turning to Kulej. "Where are the men that were with us? There were two of them."

"I am not entirely sure, The ship they were on was captured by the Thorion guard," Kulej replied.

"Ok then what do you plan to do with us now that you control us as prisoners. Sell us as slaves or return us to the Federation?"

Samantha was a strong-willed woman. "My brother is one of those rescued by the Thorion Guard. He will not stop hunting everyone you if we are not released. You don't want that."

"Yes, both your brother and the Thorion forces are proving to be quite formidable," Kulej replied.

Brannon replied, " perhaps there is a way out for you and any friends that may be interested. If you and your friends help us get back to the Federation. It will be looked upon as an act of being an ally and give you a chance to redeem yourselves to the Thorion forces and the Federation.

"I can speak for you to my CO inc the Leto." Brannon continued.

"If we are captured I would appreciate that but my first loyalty is to the syndicate. It is not just me but my entire family loyalty to the syndicate that is even more valued than success at a mission. I do appreciate the offer though, but at this time you are not really in a position to negotiate." Kulej said in all candor.

Brannon knew he was right, she had nothing to offer at present to be of value in negotiation with. All she knew for sure was that the Leto was on the way and she had to stall for time till they arrived. She looked around continuously for a way to get the upper hand. But first that required they find some weapons.

"You know my ship is on the way to rescue me and my shipmates. And when they arrive there will be a lot of fighting. I just hope all of you and your family survive it. And also my shipmates and I survive it as well. Perhaps we could work together to be able to save ourselves."

Kulej was a realist. He nodded, "I hope that you all will be well too and that we all survive what's coming," Kulej said.

One way we can is if you help us get to where the rescuers are at. The faster they get us the faster we all leave and there will be fewer injuries on both sides. And will allow for all of us to have a better chance.

"I am no military expert, but you have to consider that the Leto and the Thorion Guard are already mobilized. There's no way any ship is leaving this system without being searched." Samantha was hoping this Kulej person would see reason. That her argument would convince him to let them take a shuttlecraft and just leave.

"I am taking you to Slurg's ship, he is the head of security, Toda will no longer be able to harm you. I regret that I can't just let you go. Capturing you served no purpose and was a strategic mistake. So was aligning with the Rixxian Caliphate. They are without Honor." Kulej stated.

Brannon looked puzzled at first then asked, "Do you know what Slurg plans to do with us once we are on his ship. If he tries to escape with us on the ship. Then the Federation ships and the Rixxian Caliphate will chase you and do what is necessary to prevent Slurg from escaping with us."

Brannon looked around as alarms started going off. And smiled as she turned back. "Looks like the Leto is here with Rixxian Caliphate. You need to let us go to prevent unnecessary losses. Find me a communicator that Star Fleet issued and I can talk to the Leto. And maybe prevent a lot of needless loss of
Life and injuries.

I can help you out now Kulej., I can help a lot of your people survive. Otherwise, I will have to fight you even though you are trying to help us." Brannon said.

Just then Alarm klaxons started blaring, then there was an explosion and all were thrown to the floor.

"Quick I need to get you to safety," Kulej said.

He made sure you were all alright then led you to Slurgs ship.

"We will be safe in here...." Kulej said.

Brannon followed quickly and helped those hurt along. Once on the ship she then moved to a position out of instinct to be able to fight if necessary.

Jamie observed their conversation and inwardly smirked to herself at his talk of honour. oO An Orion talking about honour? That's a laugh. Their entire culture puts Earth's mercantilism to shame. Of course, talking to a 23rd-century person would say the same about the Klingons. The different factions and houses vying for power finally made honour a widespread value. Oo

Brannon checked on Jamie, "We will be out of here soon Jamie. But we may have to do a little fighting till the SAR Team gets to us. I hope I can count on you to help anyway you can.

"Huh? Sorry," Jamie said, shaking her head slowly. "Just lost in thought. It's been rough captivity. I had a lot of...shall we say...personal visits from our guards. I'm looking forward to getting out of here and back to our ship."

Brannon smiled, "Keep thinking happy stuff we will be out of here soon. The alarms signal the Leto and Thorion Allies are here and working to come get us. we have to hang on."

Samantha had not suffered the same treatment as Jamie. Though her time not spent in a cell had been serving the brutish Orion Brax while wearing the neural inhibitor. She knew that the Leto and the Thorion allies would do their best to rescue the entire away team. Hopefully, sooner rather than later.

Brannon reassured Samatha,"We will be back on the Leto for our next meal. Now we need to be ready to help anyway we can when the SAR Team gets here. They will be badly out numbered and need our assistance as well.
