"From Security to Executive Officer"

Mission: The Thorion Conundrum Mission Brief
Location: SB 325/Shuttle/ Shuttlebay Leto

ON:

Shenna was sitting having a quiet dinner in the restaurant at SB 325, after the decommissioning of the USS Sojourn ceremony. It was a sad thing for her to be present when the ship was retired. She served so long on her, it hurt as she said the usual goodbyes to her friends as they were shipped to other ships. Sheena was waiting for her transfer orders to go through as well. She wasn't sure if she would be security or possibly executive officer, as there was mention of a new ship just launched needing a command crew.

A young Ensign came in looking for her, with a message for her. Taking the PADD, Sheena thanked the Ensign and the youngster left quickly. It was orders to report to the base commander. She finished her dinner and left for the commanders office. All kinds of questions popped i to her head as she made her way to his office. Ringing the chime, she waited for admittance.

"Enter," said a gruff voice, followed by a heavy cough. Vice Admiral James Socoum was sitting in one chair and Colonel Adam Henderson behind his desk. Sheena entered wondering why she was summoned, Lt. Cmdr. Sheena Toran reporting as ordered," she said.

"You were summoned because we need you on a new ship that needs crew," V.Adm. Socoum said smiling. "The Colonel and I have been going over your Starfleet jacket and it is a very diversified one with security experience and a good showing for command and the ability to become somewhat of an ambassador. It is our opinion that you would be the best candidate for this position," he finished.

"Sheena, I'm not going to sit here and blow sunshine up your tail but this new ship needs your qualities and your brains, and most of all your experience, so you are here by ordered to report to the USS Leto as her first officer, effective immediately! You are to report to Capt. Mia Sterling, her CO," Col. Henderson said smiling widely.

Sheena, who had been standing, had to sit fast as the news set in. First Officer? That was totally unexpected, wonderful news, shock to be sure, but Executive Officer, that was to good to be true until the Colonel handed her the PADD with her orders.

"Commander, your shuttle leaves for your new assignment in 15 minutes. I suggest you get a move on Sheena," Socoum said laughing.

*************45Minutes later**********

Sheena was sleeping peacefully when she was awakened by an alarm going off in the shuttle. "What's going on?" she asked the pilot.

"Oh it is nothing sir. We just went by a quarentine bouy that triggered our alarm," he said. Looking straight ahead as he flew, Sheena could tell he was lying, and she wondered why.

Shaking her head in dismay, she went and replicated her snack and sat in the copilot seat watching the stars whiz by. Thinking about just what class ship she was headed to, she pictured herself on the bridge wearing red, standing next to the captain. "How long till we reach the Leto?" she asked him.

"One hour, 10 minutes, sir" the young pilot said still looking straight ahead.

"Good, alert me when we are in viewing distance,: Sheena said and went to the back of the shuttle to resume her nap, or at least she hoped.

**********50 Minutes Later*********

"Sir, we are coming up on the Leto," the pilot announced. Dropping from warp to impulse, the Leto came into view. She was spectacular. Brand new, shiny, and untried in flight, which may prove to be a challenge.

"Thankyou," Sheena said as she surveyed her new assignment. The Leto was smaller and more compact but with visable changes. All of which she would have to learn about once onboard, a new challenge to be sure.

As the shuttle landed, Sheena gathered her belongings, and got ready to disembark. Once the ramp went down, she stepped onto the deck, immediately you heard, "Executive Officer on deck", and it was like everyone just dropped what they were doing and came to attention. That was something she never thought she would ever hear, ever!
