I have delayed activation of the warp core, as Lt Gibbs is modifying torpedoes. As soon as we activate the warp core the Borg will be on us, they have fired several magneto metric guided charges at us, but they are merely potshots, which indicate they cannot detect us in the nebula, however, they do know we are here. Special commendations for both Lt Tanger and Lt Gibbs and the entire crew of the USS Leto should we not survive this encounter. Log Out.

Maia awaited word from Mr. Gibbs about his torpedo enhancements. The Leto carried four trans phasic torpedoes aboard her, however, the trick was actually getting them to hit a Borg vessel as the targeting scanners were useless in the nebula. In actuality, the odds were fairly even as the Borg sensors were proving to be no better than ours. Their shields would be down as well. Still, it was five to one, the odds were terrible.

=/\= Rick where are my torpedoes?=/\= Maia said over comms.

"Don't you wish you'd stood in bed..." Gibbs didn't look up while he was still working on the ones he had open. The idea was it that they weren't going to need the targeting scanners at all. There was a particular reason the Borg destroyed the El'Aurians. They couldn't deal with them otherwise. Getting the first two closed and loaded. "Bridge, first two loaded. Just point at them visually. Careful, the payload is ten times the ones we already have on board."

"Understood Rick, Good work!" Maia said.

"That is a lot of firepower. Just be careful it doesn't come back and hit us in the ass. I would like to see my babies get born," Sheena said trying to smile at Maia. Sitting in her seat next to Maia, Sheena kept tabs on the bridge systems while they were on red alert. This whole mission was stressful and she would be grateful when it was over with. Then she could sleep for a week.

The ship rocked violently from a nearby explosion, another magneto metric-guided weapon.

"Damage report". Maia asked.

"Just some buckling on the port nacelle captain, structural integrity field is holding." Lt. O'Carroll said.

The Science officer was at her console, desperately trying to get it to bring up data-ANY data. "I've lost the probes, the hit we took put the scientific monitors offline," she shouted, frustrated. Not having the probes out during the launch could be disastrous. "Belbri, I need power," she called. "Never mind, I'll get it from the Labs," she said, hurrying away to her labs. She'd send up one of her underlings to sit there and look dumb.

Belbre stood up, She went to the weapons locker on the bridge. She opened it up and issued everyone a phaser set to rotating frequencies. The Borg were bold, They beamed straight onto the Bridge of the Enterprise to kidnap Picard. She hit her communications badge, "All hands draw weapons and prepare to repel any Borg that may board the Leto. Triple guards on all sensitive areas of the ship."

Also, she notified the Marine Commander, All Marines are needed to repel boarders and to also help protect the ship.

Shields up, Red Alert!!!!!!!

"Belay that shields are non-functional in the Nebula."

"There is an asteroid field at 227 mk 4 which should provide an effective cover helm change course to 227 Mk 4 250 KPH." Maia ordered. Keep the impulse engines on standby. Thrusters only. It should confuse their sensors even more.

Rick finished with the rest and then headed his way back to the Bridge. Moving about half-way over to his station.

"Aye, Captain," as Belbre continued to make ready to defend the ship. She took up a position near Captain Sterling and was ready to fight. There will be no repeat of the Picard incident on the Leto unless she is captured first or killed. She looks toward Sterling but watches for any signs of possible intruders. "All weapons are at the ready Captain. Awaiting your orders." Replied Belbre.

"Manual visual targeting will be required for my new torpedoes. They should, however, lock on once they are within 300 meters of any Borg hull." Rick mentioned, settling at the secondary Tactical station.

"Three hundred meters s pretty close especially as we are unshielded. We need to devise a way to improve our odds without blindly taking potshots. Rick is there any way we can use Doppler shifting to improve our odds, Those Borg ships are pretty big, and they emit a lot of power. They must make turbulence when they move. Is there any way to key in on that," Maia asked.

Gibbs thought about it a moment, "Eddy wakes as any object pushes through nebula's. It disturbs the natural...'flow' of the nebula. Almost kind of use that as a beacon buoy."

"T'Plana'Hath is there any way to use multi-modal reflection scanning against them? Perhaps track them by there by their communications?" Maia suggested.

Mutara


Deep in the Mutara Nebula five Borg cubes were ordered to find and assimilate a Federation starship that entered the Nebula from the Federation/El'Aurian weapons platform.

Borg cube 81909 detected subtle shifts in the particle flow of the nebula in subsector 1013 and turned to investigate, they knew there was a Federation Norway class starship in the area. They were nearing a charted part of the nebula a rather large asteroid field. The issue with the Nebula was that the Borg were all but defenseless as well as the federation ship, even though their technology was far superior. They also knew that the El'Aurians had set up many traps in the nebula which had already cost the Borg 15 cubes and tactical spheres. Even their vaunted transwarp hub network had been damaged. Perhaps beyond repair by the USS Voyager some 15 years before. In fact, they had started this Armada with 30 Cubes and were now down to 5 cubes. the borg queen was trying to build a transwarp conduit in the atmosphere of Jupiter but had so far lacked the resources to implement the plan. If successful the Borg could call for reinforcements. It was only a matter of time, resistance was futile. The Borg would eventually conquer the entire galaxy.

Federation starship detected at 095 mark 4 moving at 250 KPH of course of 227 Mark 4 5000 Kilometers and closing.

"Close to intercept." The drone hive mind said.

"All cubes intercept and assimilate Federation Starship."

Captain Sterling, I am able to hear the thoughts of the Borg cubes. They know where we are and an order is out for all Borg cubes to intercept us and begin the assimilation process. We are open for attack and not able to protect against being Boarded. I have all security and Marines available. I also sent out an order for all hands to be ready to repel boarders.

At 300 meters they will be able to beam onto the Leto and take some of our crew back to the Borg cubes. We will be fighting at times hand to hand.

Dr. Tolon turned to look at her. We will make it inode the asteroid field in time...The Borg cannot follow.

"Captain, I am detecting an energy beam heading towards us from the station," Ops replied.

"It is beginning," Dr Tolon said.

The energy beam hit the Leto and then reflected/branched off into the asteroid field, energizing it. The Leto had just made it inside when the asteroid field lit up like a Tholian web, trapping the Leto inside. The Borg tried to follow and was vaporized as a result. The other four cubes converged on the asteroid field firing Borg plasma torpedoes but it only made the field stronger.

The shield absorbed all the fire the Borg could throw at it and then fired back. The Borg could not adapt resistance was not futile the Borg never had a chance. All cubes were destroyed

Dr. Tolon looked back at Maia. His eyes were glowing white.

"It is finished," Tolon said.

"The Alpha quadrant is safe the anti-life is destroyed." Dr Tolon said as he begins to glow like his eyes."

"Captain, my people and I thank you, you are witness to a birth. My people and I will now ascend to the next plane of existence. May you and your crew be blessed and have a happy and prosperous life in your existence.

With that, there was a blinding light as a part of the Nebula was sucked back into the station and then vanished.

A moment later the lights came back on...

"Status report," Maia said.

The Leto found itself floating in deep space. The nebula was in the deep background and 100 trillion miles in every direction were sucked into the station before it vanished. The Leto floated in a vacuum. Even the asteroids were gone.

"Navigator, calculate our position then set a course for Starbase 55." Maia ordered.
